Lightbulb Italian giants eye Argentine

Quote:
Italian giants eye Argentine Tuesday 2 October, 2007

Juventus and Inter are chasing Argentine starlet Sergio Aguero, but will need deep pockets to lure the in-form Atletico Madrid striker.

Aguero has scored 11 times in 31 games for Los Rojiblancos since his arrival from Independiente for a fee of close to £10m and is helping fill the gap left by the departed Fernando Torres.

The 19-year-old hitman is believed to be an option for the Old Lady if contract negotiations with Alessandro Del Piero continue to stall, while Inter have been watching him for nearly a year.

However, it seems that Aguero has his heart set on playing alongside fellow countryman Lionel Messi, the player to whom he has regularly been compared.

“Messi and I have always spoken a lot,” he told Punto Radio. “And we have laughed a lot about the fact we have scored the same number of goals so far this season as neither of us expected it.

“I’d love to play next to Messi, but of course he would have to come to Atletico,” he concluded.

While Juve and Inter will undoubtedly keep an eye on Aguero, they may be scared away by his estimated price tag of around £15m.

Fantastic player. However, Juve missed their chance to get him when Sivori told Moggi and Giraudo to sign him a few years ago. It would cost to much to sign him now.

I dont see y Inter would be interested. They dont need any more attackers, and I doubt Aguero would get much playing with Ibra, Crespo, Suazo, Cruz ahead of him.

Would be an amazing player for juve, but azzurri is right in saying that he would be way too expensive.

Plus inter don't need him as long as they have zlatan.

He has been their best player so far this season. Last year he was poor since he was played as the main striker. But with the arrival of forlan and torres leaving he has been able to drop back into a supporting role.

Has scored 5 goals in 8 games in the league and 2 goals in 1 game in the uefa cup. Also scored 6 goals in 7 games in the u20 world cup.

Would be everything juve is missing. Pace/creativty, you guys are always thinking of the perfect replacement for del piero and this guy is it. But he doesn't have that amazing creativty/intelligence that dp has yet.

You want to buy him now joel ? That would be 20m and here is your receipt

Palladino will hopefully be Del Piero's replacement. He has been slowly integrated into the team over the past 2 seasons, and his play has continued to mature. In terms of creative flair upfront, he is our most exciting player to watch. Del Piero doesn't have the pace to take players on the way Palladino does. He has to unload the ball a few seconds after he beats his man, or else the defender will catch up.

I dont think Juve are seriously considering spending 20+ mil on Aguero when they already have a good replacement upfront. Although I certainly wouldn't complain if we signed Aguero, just as long as it doesn't effect Palladino's standing in the team.

1. Why would Atletico sell a player who they were training for more than 4 years so he would become one of the best for his age in the world ?? Atletico are trying to make an impire so they won't sell him easily !! ( For less than 35m euros !! )

2. Inter and Juve aren't in need for more strikers !! Juve has: Del Piero, Trezeguet ,Iaquinta and Raffaele Palladino, and Inter has: Suazo, Ibra, Crespo, Julio Cruz and Adrian !!

Juve will bolster their lineup as the next few years go by, they intentionially did not spend much this season, very smart move on their part.

2 great goals against lokomotiv. Now you can easily understand the comparisons to the great romario.

Juventus are preparing a bid for Atletico Madrid’s teenage sensation Sergio Aguero, according to German website 4-4-2.com

The Argentine forward is one of the hottest young properties in world football and has made a stunning start to the current campaign, with five goals in La Liga already.

This follows on from his mesmerising displays in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in the summer when he finished top-scorer and player of the tournament as Argentina lifted the trophy.

Juventus were already interested in signing Aguero before he left Independiente in 2006, however the €20m price tag, as well as the Calciopoli crisis scuppered any chances of a deal.

The Bianconeri are now prepared to pay €22m for the 19-year-old and are also likely to throw in Portuguese flop Tiago Mendes as part of the bargain.

Juve are likely to face stiff interest from a host of other interested parties, and Valencia, Bayern Munich and Italian rivals Inter are also said to be sniffing around.

Aguero made his professional debut for Independiente at the age of just 15, and in the process became the youngest ever player to feature in the Argentine First Division.

The previous record was held by the legendary Diego Maradona, who as it happens celebrates his 47th birthday today. Happy Birthday Diego!

€22m + Tiago. Thats alot, but he is a fantastic talent.

For Aguero that could turn out to be a right steal.

This kid is gonna be huge.
