According to research printed in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Kaka’s annual salary of £4m is unmatched in the peninsula with Totti’s £3.7m haul his closest rival.

Inter trio Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Patrick Vieira and the troubled Adriano are all trailing behind with a modest £3.4m alongside Azzurri goalkeeper Gigi Buffon at Juventus.

Boumsong makes as much as Mexes! Adriano makes more than Trez, Inzaghi, Suazo, etc, ie: top goal scorers.

Empoli are near the bottom in terms of overall payorll, yet the got a UEFA cup spot. Pretty impressive.

Juve's is alot higher than I expected, since were coming out of serie b, no cl, etc.

What a good deal for Lazio and Fiorentina, if they aren't making money now, there must be something seriously wrong.

Given that Milan has signed more free transfers than other top teams I'm not surprised that our wage bill is higher
Pretty sad that Favalli makes more that DDR though

I find it amazing that a team like Genoa, bene promoted and all, spends more than Lazio. Quite strange. Oh well, Ricky is at the top, not surprised there tbh. Maldini apparently asked for his bill t be reduced when he extended his contract in June.

The rich teams get richer and the poor teams get poorer...no suprises on what teams usually end up on top...It would be cool to see all these teams play salary cap soccer(theroretically) Just to see if Milan and Inter and Juve could all manage to come out on top or even compete with less then half of their money. It would suck to be a dan of some of those lower end teams, because you just root and root for them and there is no way possible they are going to win anything, when there are teams with 5 or 6 times the budget you have. Especailly in a game, where the more great players you have the better your team gets...its not like baseball where a team full of nobodies can win on any given day/year because its all strategy and 90% of the game is individual effort

The rich teams are not spending as much as they have been in the past. I see their wage bills falling a bit in the next bit.

Salary cap will never fly, so lets not even bring it up. This is Italy not America.

Having said that, if there was one, with the extensive scouting networks that the big clubs have, and the prestige they bring to the table, they will still get the good players, regardless of cap or not.

The big team wage bills is more a reflection of the fact that they don't compete with the other small clubs in Italy, but the other big clubs in Europe.

The tend to carry more high caliber players on their bench to compete in more competitions, so there is more here than meets the eye.
