Cassano back to Italy?
Quote:
Cassano ponders Italian return Tuesday 11 April, 2006
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Antonio Cassano could be on the verge of ending his Real Madrid career in favour of a return to Italian football.
Reports in Spain and Italy over the past few days are suggesting that the youngster may be tempted for a quick peninsula comeback after failing to settle at the Bernabeu.
Juventus, at the request of boss Fabio Capello who coached him at Roma, and Inter are monitoring his situation with interest.
Cassano only joined the Madrid outfit in January after Roma accepted a £3.5m offer for the player who would have been out of contract in June.
Although the attacker had hoped that his Real move would help him regain his form in time for the World Cup, the youngster who the Giallorossi signed for £20m has disappointed.
In the 97 days that he has been with Real, Cassano has played just 479 minutes which have been spread over 14 games.
He’s only scored twice, against Real Betis and Atletico Madrid, while he’s been handed a starting jersey on just three occasions.
His lack of an impact is now also starting to lead to jeers from disgruntled fans and criticism from the Spanish media who did hail his arrival just a matter of months ago.
Cassano will now ponder his options at the end of the season and may consider an exit with Juventus still keen.
Capello has always insisted that Cassano is the future of Italian football and a summer bid could take place.
Especially with some reports in Italy on Tuesday suggesting that Alessandro Del Piero could leave his beloved Old Lady in the summer for an experience abroad.
Yet Inter are also in the running if they decide to refresh their attacking options given the uncertainty over whether Adriano is part of their new project or not.

Stay in Madrid, Cassano!
Just wait and see what the new coach wants to do with you.
I was so lucky to see Antonio Cassano started for Real Madrid against Atletico Madrid and scored 1-0 (his first goal at Santiago Bernabeu)
Will never forget. Cassano is holy for me. I hope the new manager shall play with two strikers, and that Antonio is one of them.

According to some newspapers today, Cassano wants to stay in Madrid and fight for a place in the starting lineup next season.
Hopefully the new manager will play two strikers, and then it will be much easier to get time on the pitch for him.

no...its cassano's fault...he could have re-signed for a year and we would have sold him in the summer and for alot more then 3.5 million. its his own fault for leaving. but hey i wont hate on him nor will i dwell on the past anymore. he should do alot of work during the summer so he can be fit for madrid.

He should stay at Madrid and do well in WC do gain some confidence lost in his last period at Rome. Next season he´ll be more regular with Robinho in the wing and with Ronaldo up front.

Shit off, sinoy. The world doesn't revolve around Roma and Cassano was right to leave, they pushed him out in the end - if there was space for him at Juventus, he'd be the darling of the Delle Alpi right now.

Well that's not strictly true, it's not like he tried to stay. He said so himself.

I believe they are BOTH wrong. I say Roma was wrong for handling the situation wrongly, and not getting him signed quickly. They obviously underestimated his determination to get a good deal done.
Cassano was wrong because he acts like a child at times, and this did not help the situation.
By hook or crook, he will be back in Italy, however I don't think its next year, and I'm not convinced it will be Juve.

shit off musco. the world doesnt revolve around juve...in all seriousness now he could have easily resigned. sacrifices could have been made and he could have sucked it up and kept playing to get a spot on the world cup team. getting fat is a result of him not caring. if he wanted to be ready he would have been fit and ready to play easily. its the player who decides his future not the team imo. he was playing well for us before he left and understands italian football well. in spain he has to move around alot more and is given alot more space. im sure he can adapt. i still like the guy but he isnt very bright.
that being said roma ( prade and rosella ) were also very wrong. but at the same time he had one brilliant season and wanted high wages. sure i would have given it to him(supposedly extra 500,000 he wanted), but im not the management.
