Cesare Bovo signs for Genoa
http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...ia/jun28e.html
Cesare Bovo is looking forward to the new season after Roma secured the services of the Under-21 international stopper.
The Giallorossi renewed their co-ownership of the defender with Palermo yesterday, but he will spend next term in the capital.
"I’m very happy to return to Rome after three years away," the highly-rated youngster told Radio Incontro.
" I’m a Roman and a Romanista. I am really motivated for the new campaign and I hope to play regularly.
"The new Coach? I don’t know Luciano Spalletti personally but I know that his sides are always tough to play against."
Bovo, who was brought up in the Giallorossi youth system, spent last season on loan at Parma.
"It was important for me to play at Parma and also previously at Lecce," he added. "They were two excellent schools and I now hope to be ready for a great club like Roma."
The capital outfit did have their problems in defence last term, with summer signing Matteo Ferrari struggling badly.
"I got to know him at the Olympics, he is a splendid person and an excellent player," added Bovo.
"I hope that he can get back to his best because I think a really good side is being built here now."

Bovo was good at the olympics and ferrari was not, many (roma fans) were sat thinking 'we've got the wrong player'. That said I liekd Matteo and hope he stays.

Bovo furious at Roma snub
http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...ia/jun24b.html
Quote:
Cesare Bovo has returned to Palermo after Roma lost a blind auction and the defender admits he’s disappointed with the result.
“I grew up in the Giallorossi youth system and am a lifelong fan of this club. I admit, I was hit hard by this,” commented the Under-21 international.
The two clubs both owned 50 per cent of his contract and he spent last season at the Stadio Olimpico, but they were unable to negotiate a deal for his future.
When these situations are stalled, the sides put a figure into a sealed envelope and the highest bid wins, which in this case was Palermo.
“I thought it was going to go differently, especially as during the year I had been told that Roma wanted to keep me. I haven’t spoken to Luciano Spalletti. I don’t know if losing this auction was organised between the Coach and the club, but it’s pointless wondering about it now.”
The 26-year-old defender made his Serie A debut with Roma in 2001-02, then spent two seasons on loan at Lecce and another at Parma’s Stadio Tardini. This’ll be the first campaign he’ll play with Palermo.
“I am disappointed because during the year there is so much talk, but when Roma had to back that up with facts, they were found wanting. I don’t want to criticise the club, but I really was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Nonetheless, playing for Roma remains a highlight for me, a true Romanista, and I cannot explain what that means to me.”

He's not the only one, this was not a popular move with the romanisti. I'm incredibly annoyed our management has a decent talet go, D'Ago is more understandable but Bovo was excellent for us this season.

is he under 21? or is he 26 years old? if he's 26...well thats not cool he should be a starter by now. but if he's under 21...we should have kept him.

He's 22 according to the Roma website, born december 1st 1983. Unless they've got the date backwards and he's born 12th January 1983 making him 23.
But young anyway.

He's injured his foot again and will miss the rest of the season. He will undergo surgery in Rome on Thursday.
