Albinoleffe got back on track with this important win over Jekyll and Hyde Mantova, who went from a 3-0 win at Brescia midweek to this disappointing performance. It took just 45 seconds for Ruopolo to break the deadlock and Cellini made the result safe with a trademark poacher’s goal. Marchetti performed a marvellous save to deny Lucenti, but when Di Cesare saw red it ended Mantova’s hopes of a comeback.

Ascoli ended their crisis in emphatic fashion, but Cesena continue to struggle in this seven-goal thriller. All the action came in the second half, but it was the visitors who could have taken the lead following Pesce’s handling offence, only for Salvetti to fire the penalty off target. Ascoli came out fighting and were quickly 2-0 up through Bernacci’s brace, both set up by Guberti. Soncin converted a penalty for Ola’s handball and was later to net another individual effort, while Guberti got his glory on Bernacci’s assist. Cesena staged a late fightback with Ferretti’s spot-kick and a Sacilotto strike, but it was too late. Cortellini saw red in stoppages for a late tackle on Luci.

Donda first tested Manitta with a fierce free kick, then his cross was turned in by Lanzafame to give Bari the lead. Messina took just seven minutes to draw level when Cordova sent Biancolino clear on goal. In the second half both Biancolino and Lanzafame struck the frame of the goal.

Pisa’s run of six consecutive victories – and their time at the top of the Serie B table – ground to a halt with this surprise derby defeat. The revelations were unusually sluggish and rarely threatened Bressan’s goalmouth. Grosseto get the bragging rights in Tuscany this weekend with a Carparelli penalty for Raimondi’s tackle on Dall’Acqua and a splendid long-range free kick. It was a tense affair, as Lazzari and Trevisan saw red for double bookable offences, while Raimondi was dismissed after he struck a ballboy.

Lecce came away with a potentially decisive victory in the race for promotion, but were made to work until the last second by 10-man Rimini. Esposito had given the visitors the lead by nodding in a corner kick and Rimini equalised with Valiani after Ricchiuti had rattled the crossbar. Cardinale’s dismissal straight after the restart and a Schiavi header seemed to put the game firmly in the Salentini’s hands, but once again Jeda hauled them back. It was a chaotic finale with Munari thumping the woodwork and a last-gasp Tulli winner. The goalscorer also saw red for a reaction foul.

The crowd at the Stadio Partenio got their money’s worth with an entertaining home victory. Ravenna had taken the lead early on through Succi’s tap-in, but Paonessa drew level by meeting Sestu’s cross. Over the next 14 minutes, the match would be turned upside down. Toledo restored the advantage from the edge of the area only for Paonessa to catch him again and Toledo lost his head, elbowing De Angelis for a straight red card. Avellino took full advantage of a shaken squad and Paonessa completed his hat-trick with an angled free kick.

Bruno got Modena back on level terms for 2-2 only for Cerci to restore Pisa’s advantage on the counter-attack.
