Napoli: Hands off Hamsik Monday 19 November, 2007

Napoli sporting director Pierpaolo Marino has warned Europe’s giants that Slovakian starlet Marek Hamsik is not for sale at any price.

The Partenopei have made an impressive return to the top flight and have settled in mid-table, largely due to the positive performances of their summer signings.

Argentine hitman Ezequiel Lavezzi, Uruguayan midfielder Walter Gargano and former Brescia man Hamsik all seem to be shrewd summer buys and are already attracting high-profile clubs.

“I wouldn’t sell any of the new boys,” Marino told Il Corriere dello Sport. “Not for all the money in the world – it’s just not an option.

“Whoever is putting around these rumours obviously thinks that we are the same Napoli of years ago. Nowadays under President Aurelio De Laurentiis things have changed a lot and the investment that has taken place shows that.”

Hamsik is attracting the lion’s share of the transfer gossip and it is believed that Juventus, Inter, Real Madrid and Manchester United representatives watched him play for Slovakia against the Czech Republic on Saturday.

However, the 20-year-old is under contract at the Stadio San Paolo until 2012 and it is clear that he won’t be leaving in the near future.

“Now everybody is aware of this lad’s potential and they are queuing up for him,” admitted Marino.

“But why didn’t they come forward when he was still playing for Brescia? At that time maybe they could’ve signed him, but there’s no chance now.”

Hamsik has Napoli ambition Saturday 24 November, 2007

Napoli are fresh from promotion and already pushing for Europe, but Marek Hamsik believes this is just the beginning.

“I strongly believe in the plans put forward by this club. Within three years we will be among the strongest sides in Italy and I want to stay at Napoli for a long time,” said the midfielder.

Hamsik has been among the standouts in the squad so far this season and that has earned him transfer gossip with the likes of Juventus, Milan, Inter, Barcelona and Arsenal.

He intends to stick it out with the San Paolo side for the time being and see them return to the top of Europe, where they were in the age of Diego Armando Maradona – even though Hamsik was born in 1987 and cannot remember that atmosphere.

It has also been a fine time for Hamsik at international level, as he scored against San Marino for Slovakia midweek.

“I scored for my national team and now hope to do the same at the Stadio San Paolo,” he smiled ahead of the match with Catania.

“We want all three points and will really go for the victory, as we have been unlucky recently and haven’t reaped what we have sowed.”

Marino: No Hamsik talks Wednesday 28 November, 2007

Napoli sporting director Pierpaolo Marino insists that Marek Hamsik will not be joining Juventus, contrary to Press reports.

The Slovak midfield star has reportedly caught the Old Lady’s eye with his performances since joining the Partenopei from Brescia in pre-season.

Tuttosport reported that Juve were ready to table a part exchange deal involving Marcelo Zalayeta to try and lure Hamsik, but Marino is adamant that no talks are scheduled.

“Nobody is touching Hamsik, Ezequiel Lavezzi or Walter Gargano,” he stated on Radio Kiss Kiss.

“I have an excellent relationship with my Juve counterpart Alessio Secco, but everything that has been written in the newspapers is without grounds.

“There is no meeting with the Bianconeri and they are just another club who might be interested in our players.

“Co-ownership deals will be resolved in June and we hope that our lads will grow here and after five years will renew and continue to grow.”

There have also been rumours that striker Emanuele Calaiò and midfielder Samuele Dalla Bona are looking to jump ship.

“To Calaiò I would say that he shouldn’t be upset because he isn’t being picked every week as just playing for Napoli should be an honour, even if it’s just a few minutes.

“We thought we were going to sell Dalla Bona to Birmingham in the summer, but he refused the transfer. It’s good if he plays and we will try and give him a hand in January.”

The other half of Blasi + Zalayeta + cash. He plays infront of Blasi and Gargano at Napoli, but he can play a variety of attacking positions in midfield. Alot of big clubs are tracking him, but Nedved is his idol, so hopefully that pushes him towards Juve.

Hamsik at Napoli until 2013? Saturday 12 April, 2008

Reports are coming out of Slovakia that Napoli starlet and Juventus transfer target Marek Hamsik has extended his contract until 2013.

The midfielder has been a great success since joining in the summer and has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Napoli are eager not to lose a key player so quickly and have offered him a contract extension until June 30, 2013.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, sources in Slovakia say a deal has been struck with agent Jurelaj Venglos.

In exchange for staying at the San Paolo, Hamsik will receive a pay rise providing him with wages worth £650,000 per season.

Napoli patron Aurelio De Laurentiis has already stated he wants to take this club into Europe next year and is looking into more summer signings.

Hamsik was a bargain when snapped up from Serie B side Brescia for just £4m.

With teams sniffing around this is a smart move.

Milan, Juve and Inter can offer him double that. This changes nothing really. He had enough time left on his previous deal, so I dont think this increases his value. Its only a matter of whether he wants to move or not.

Although its not much of a risk, usually the big clubs wait for to see if u can replicate good form over another year. I think he will stay on for another season, and if Napoli make the UEFA cup, possibly longer.

Would be a wonderful addition to any team. Hope he stays at Napoli for a few years though.
