What? Dos Santos to Chelsea?

I can't really see they shall bring in him. He is a talent - but nothing more. He need plenty of times to take the level and perhaps then he can be a good striker. And Chelsea is a club that shall win today, not tomorrow, and Dos Santos is not a player that you can use 'Joker' as nickname.

Around 30 better strikers that is better than Dos Santos, who Chelsea can get for a nice price out there.

Dos Santos is leaving on a free in the summer so they'll add him probably to the other youngsters they have coming through.

Giovani being booed at the Camp Nou after his Dad admitted he had an offer from Man City has sealed the deal I think and he's almost definately off to somewhere.

Barcelona is a place where dos Santos has got his chances although he's proved nothing. I don't see him starting games at Chelsea if he does move there.

Well, for free they can loan him out to an other PL club.

However, Chelsea is a winning club and the best players they've available shall play. Like in Madrid and Barcelona, you shall play if you are stable and developed to play good from day 1, or if you are a talent in the same class as C.Ronaldo, Messi, Aguero, etc...

Dos Santos is a talent that is far, far away from a place in the linup for any big gun in Europe.

So Dos Santos is definitly leaving?

I'd love to see him play for Liverpool.

He'd be wasted at Chelski and Man City are in transition with Sven leaving.

Chelsea Close In On Dos Santos - Report

Quote:

Chelsea are thought to be close to landing Barcelona youngster Giovani dos Santos...

The 18-year-old has been touted as an incredible prospect for a few years now, being likened to Ronaldinho, singled out for praise by Sir Alex Ferguson at the tender age of 14 and eventually making his breakthrough into the first team this season.

However, it has been a poor season for the Blaugrana, and he has not been able to settle in as he would have liked, either. Filling in for the phenomenal Lionel Messi - who missed crucial parts of the season due to injury - proved a bridge too far for the Mexican, who was somewhat underwhelming in comparison to fellow wonderkid, Bojan Krkic.

It has been rumoured that the forward is willing to leave the club unless he can be offered an improved contract, with Manchester City and Chelsea reportedly interested in the player several months ago.

It is Chelsea who are now said to still be in the hunt for his services, with the club having held talks with the player's parents and agent.

With a contract worth £40,000 per week - an astonishing amount for a player of that age - the deal is said to be all but done, with a fee needing to be agreed between the two clubs.

Goal.com - Barcelona - Chelsea Close In On Dos Santos - Report

Barca fans have been telling me over the last few months that he's available on a free transfer but the article here says Barca might get a fee. One thing we do know is that he's 80% definate to leave.

I'm not happy about that tbh. I was not happy by giovanni's performances this year but to me he looks like the next riquelme/quaresma/...
we should just loan him (if possible, and I do think it's possible) to somewhere for gaining experience he definitely needs and then get him back or sell him for a large fee.

he is far far more talnted than he had seen this season, we all know that. current (or previous) barcelona seem a wrong place for him though.

In pre-season he looked dynamite, he scored some fantastic goals and went on some great dribbles and the most impressive thing was his physique as he used to outmuscle players a lot older than him..

He looks tired whenever he's played this season and maybe suffered a bit from pressure. Another reason could be he got hacked in November and he's going for surgery to get the injury properly repaired next week.

Great stuff

Although I'd probably accept nearer to 10-15m for Deco.

Also I do hope that Gudy goes to England, I think Keita can replace him and we'll get about 10m euros for Gudy.

Galliani Confirms Zambrotta And Ronaldinho Interest

Milan general manager Adriano Galliani was in Spain on Friday evening to dine out with president Joan Laporta at the Hotel Majestic in Barcelona, confirming the speculation that they spoke about two possible transfers.

At the end of the dinner with Laporta, Galliani confirmed to the Spanish reporters that the two discussed the possibility of the Rossoneri signing Gianluca Zambrotta and Ronaldinho from the Blaugrana, even though the negotiations have yet to start in earnest.

"It was just a preliminary evening of discussion - nothing has been concluded," declared the general on his way out of the hotel.

"We spoke about Zambrotta and Ronaldinho, but tomorrow I will return to Milan," he continued.

Galliani was then asked by the Spanish journalists if they discussed the transfer of Samuel Eto'o, but his response was a negative one.

At this point, Zambrotta seems like a very probable purchase, whereas Ronaldinho’s future will depend a lot on the asking price of Barcelona.

Rafael Marquez, another alleged Milan target, appeared not to have been on the agenda.

Every Man Has His Price

Spanish sports daily Marca, meanwhile, claims to have some insider details from the dinner.

According to the Madrid-based paper, Barcelona have offered a two-fer deal of €50m for the pair.

This apparently breaks down to €40m for the Brazilian superstar, and a mere €10m for Italian World Cup-winner Zambrotta.

Milan, meanwhile, have apparently set their opening gambit at just €22m for the pair, meaning that when negotiations begin in earnest there is some work still to be done.

The City Connection

Meanwhile Manchester City's interest remains. Roberto de Assis, 'Dinho's brother and agent, has apparently journeyed to Thailand to meet with the highest representative of City moneyman Thaksin Shinawatra.

'Dinho is apparently not ruling out a switch to Eastlands, and the imminent arrival of Garry Cook as CEO could potentially see the Citizens' dark-horse status advance considerably. Cook is a big figure within the Nike sports empire, of which Ronaldinho is a member.

The player's salary demands - rumoured to approach €250,000 a week, remain a stumbling block.

Glenn Debattista - Goal.com

A deal for Zambrotta will be worked out quite quickly I think. Zambro will leave for around 7m euros.

Ronaldinho is tougher as Barca want at least 30m euros from what I've read. Milan only want to offer 20m euros. I think Barca are more likely to crumble than Milan and a deal at 25m euros may be worked out.

Ronaldinho, Deco y Gudjohnsen no darán facilidades para su salida | SPORT | Confidencial

Barcelona's plan is to get 55-85m euros from sales.

30m euros + from Eto'o. 25m euros from Ronaldinho. 10m from Deco and around 9m from Zambrotta and an extra 10m from another player leaving, possibly Gudjohnsen or Marquez.

14m of that will go on Keita and 5-9m will go on Pique. Alves will take up near to 30m of it, if Eto'o leaves then the new striker will probably be Villa or someone which is 30m euros and then the LW is the last position and is likely to be 18m euros for someone like Silva.

85m euros in and nearly 100m euros out is Barca's plan on transfers. If Eto'o stays then cancel getting a striker for 30m as the 30m player stays.

The problem now is putting the plan into place.

Gudjohnsen is interesting to Newcastle and West Ham, the mooted price is £4m.

Also Atletico are pushing to bring in Rafa Marquez. Which I think is realistic as Barca now have 5 centre backs for next season, Puyol, Milito, Caceres, Pique and Marquez. Milito is out for a while but we only really need 4. Marquez could be sold this summer but next summer is probably more likely.
