Default Alves Out For 2 Weeks

Daniel Alves Confirms Barça Offer Sevilla’s sought-after right-back Daniel Alves has confirmed that he and the Andalusian club are studying an offer made by Fútbol Club Barcelona that would take the Brazilian up the coast to the flamboyant 2004-5/2005-6 Liga champions.

"I’m not closing the door in anyone’s face" said a prudent Alves when asked if the Catalan giants had really made a push to bring the slippery speed merchant to Camp Nou. The player, still stuck between Spain and the Seleção, went further on his new website www.danielalves.net.

The player also admitted that "The President [Del Nido] has told me that Barcelona and other teams have shown interest or made offers for my services". He did, however, repeat his happiness with all things Sevillano.

“Anything that I am now or that I may be in future owes a great deal to Sevilla, a city where I’ve been made to feel at home and before making any decision we’re all going to have to sit down with the President and decide what’s best for the club".

If sealed, the deal would see Alves become the seventh Brazilian in the Blaugrana squad after Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Deco, Thiago Motta, Sylvinho, Edmilson and Belletti; although the latter’s position would be directly threatened as Alves and Belletti play in the same post of right-back.
------------------------------------------

Great to here that they have made the approach. This would be the best signing Barca can make quite frankly because Alves has shown time after time after time, that he is an excellent RB in both the offensive and defensive aspects of the position.

Default Alves To Be Presented Today

Quote:
The Brazilian full-back is keen to leave the Andalucian club to further his career and the Blaugrana have offered him a five-year contract at triple his current salary.

With that offer on the table, Alves' representative, José Rodríguez Baster, Rodri, has said that Barça must now agree a fee with Sevilla for things to start moving.

"If we had the key to the operation then it would be a lot easier, but unfortunately that depends on Sevilla as it is they that must set the asking price," Rodri explained.

"We are at the same point as last season. There are a lot of interested clubs and each time we receive something we pass it on to Sevilla.

"But I do not know anything more as Sevilla have told me nothing.

"Barça have asked if Dani would sign for them next season if they reached an agreement with Sevilla, but I do not know if they have even begun to negotiate. If they do, then we would be wiling to sit down with them.

"In these cases we are always left in the middle. Last year Dani was outstanding for Sevilla and this year he has continued in the same way.

"The boy knows exactly what to do and I understand perfectly what he wants.

"If anyone asks me if Barcelona have reached an agreement with Sevilla then I would say I imagine not, because Sevilla have not said anything to me."

Rodri then explained that Alves only wants to leave Sevilla to be able to test himself playing for one of Europe's elite clubs.

"The player wants to improve, with all respect to the fans and to Sevilla. He has already spent four years with the club and has rejected many offers," he continued.

"There will be a day though when he cannot do that any more."

There's going to be a lot of movement in Catalunya this summer, this move will probably spell the end of the line for Zambrotta's stay as well.

Last month it was reported that Zambro, Galliani and Barça had reached a deal for Zambro to move to Milan in the summer. Even if that doesn't happen, Zambro is definitely going to leave, he never really impressed and has been rubbish this season, plus Alves will be a guaranteed a starting spot.
I wonder if Barça will pay the 40m € Del Nido wants, honestly I doubt it. So this deal might hit the rocks

We're quite cheap and €40m would break our all time transfer record (previously €33m for Overmars). I don't think we'd pay that much for Alves and I don't think Del Nido is likely to budge under €35m.

Lahm looks like a better prospect, available between €9-15m, youngish and versatile for both sides.

Zambrotta has already packed his bags and has one foot out the door. Galliani already said that Zambrotta has agreed to go to Milan in the summer. I think we'll get €6m tops for him.

Dani Alves is not worth €40m. No player in the world is worth that much, actually. That's over-exaggerated. It's Sevilla's strategy though, in order to push away possible interests.

A transfer of Dani Alves to Barca or anywhere else is possible more than ever now, as a result of Sevilla's actual state.

Let's wait and see.

Pat, Lahm has been crap for the whole season for us, he is not even a confirmed starter anymore.

But, you know it's Lahm, so you can't sell him easy. Klinsmann is a fan of him, so he wants to keep him, and the board have also said the same. But, Lahm's poor performances this seasons have made us fans say "go on, sell him!", though deep in heart, we don't want to see him go.

Until Klinsmann officially takes over, anything you hear over a Lahm transfer is just pure bullshit, believe me.

Again, let's wait and see.

Chelsea offered €36M last summer, which Del Nido had said he'd accept if offered, but rejected it, which is why Alves threw such a strop at the start of this season.

Surely they won't be able to keep an unhappy player 2 seasons in a row, and money like that for a RB, with all due respect to Alves, the number of players they could buy for that sort of money would almost certainly help the team more than just him.

Agreed

I mean surely when a new contract comes around he will reject it because of the way Sevilla are treating him and his transfer request and then he could leave on a free transfer and Sevilla would really rue not selling him...It will come back to bite them if they don't sell him now for the money that they are getting/or might get offered.

Bayern Munich appear very close to agreeing a new deal which will keep full back Philipp Lahm at the club, in a move that will no doubt disappoint Barcelona and other suitors.

And Alves hasn't been as awesome as last season, not even the captain's armband motivated him.

It's time for Del Nido to let him go. The question is, will Barça or any other club, offer what Del Nido wants ?

Gives us a problem in terms of full backs. We either pay the 35m odd for Alves, (if he'll come to us) or we'll go for our 3rd choice RB, maybe fat Miguel or Rafinha etc. Whatever happens I think it is a must that Oleguer won't be our RB for next season.

Barça Told To Pay €30m For Alves

Quote:
Barcelona have seen their offer of cash plus Giovani Dos Santos in exchange for Daniel Alves rejected by Sevilla and told they must pay €30m outright, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

The Blaugrana are locked in negotiations with the Andalucian outfit and are determined to force José Mará del Nido to lower his asking price for the Brazilian international.

Alves has reportedly reached an agreement with Barça to join them if they can agree a deal that suits Sevilla, but that will take some hard bargaining.

Real Madrid are also interested, but according to the Catalan daily, Alves has asked his club to only negotiate with Barcelona at the moment.

Los Merengues are prepared to pay the €30m asking price and throw in Rubén De la Red as part of the deal as they will re-sign him from Getafe in the summer.

Talks are set to continue between Barça officials and Del Nido, but the Sevilla supremo is a hard negotiator as Chelsea found out last summer when having a €36m bid turned down.

A year ago, Del Nido was keen to hold on to all his stars as the team set out on their first ever Champions League campaign, but he is now willing to rebuild.

With Jesús Navas and Diego Capel already performing at the highest level, the Sevilla president is prepared to cash in on Alves while he is still worth such a vast sum.

Goal.com

Goal.com - Barcelona - Barça Told To Pay €30m For Alves

Well Alves hasn't quite had the season like last season although he's still been great with all the assists he's been getting and the most Sevilla could get last time was €36m. Add to that now that Alves is desperate to move and €30m seems a more realistic price for both parties.

Question is now if Barca will cough up the €30m or if we'll try and negotiate that figure down to about €24m.

I really like Alves but I think his personality might clash with the rest of the team, I think he will go bullistic every time Messi ignores his overlapping runs as Messi normally does. I think Barça should look at Rafinha.

The thing I'm reluctant on Alves on is the price. 30m euros for a wingback is silly money.

We don't have a lot of options for the new RB tho. Lahm was second choice but Klinsmann has apparently convinced him to stay after promising him a big part in the Bayern team for next season. We've also been linked with Willy Sagnol but I'm not too sure if he's going to be better than Zambrotta. I haven't seen much of Rafinha but recently in the Schalke games vs Barca he wasn't very good but he's probably our no.2 alternative to Alves and all the other decent RB's seem to be tied to their team like Maicon to Inter or have agreed moves like Heitinga to Atletico.

If anyone can scout us a cheap and decent Right Back then that would be great
