I remember you saying he was Barca's 3rd choice but if I'm honest I think that he has been great. I mean yeah sure he is the best defending full back but he can make tackles when needed, but he is amazing when it comes to attacking, his crosses are nearly always perfect and he works really well with J.Cole. So I am a bit disappointed that he might be sold in Chelsea's clear out sale.

Chelsea Confirm 5.5M Belletti Agreement
No chance we'll take him back, we all celebrated when he left, I'm suprised I didn't celebrate more. In the thread where he was sold ^^ the only 2 things I said he was good at was crossing from deep and possibly linking with the RW. In Barca we played the offside trap all the time and he kept everyone onside, he also loved to hack people and give away freekicks and we were even playing Oleguer over him as he's more defensively solid. Imagine how crap you need to be for Oleguer to be more defensively solid than you
Looks like Alves, Rafinha, Sagnol are the options for the moment.....

Barça Want €25m Alves Deal Done
Quote:
Barcelona are hoping to conclude a deal to sign Daniel Alves from Sevilla in order to present him next week, but they are yet to have a response to their latest bid of €25m.
The Blaugrana president, Joan Laporta, is keen to start the revamp of the club quickly and after having their first offer knocked back, resumed talks yesterday.
Sevilla know that they cannot block Alves' departure this summer after stopping him from going to Chelsea last year, despite the Blues offering around €36m for his services.
Laporta knows that he needs a big gesture to placate irate fans and views the capture of Alves as a big step towards calming the waters at the end of a troubled season in Camp Nou.
The player himself has made it clear that he wants to join the Catalan giants and is believed to have already agreed to the personal terms that were put before him last month.
Sevilla supremo José Maria del Nido is a difficult negotiator to deal with, but while remaining steadfast 12 months ago he also listens to sporting director Monchi.
It was Monchi that took Alves to Sevilla for just €848,000 in 2002 and he has now recommended that the club garner as much money as they can for him or risk having a very disgruntled player on their hands.
Real Madrid and Liverpool were also said to be watching the situation, but Barça are in pole position and a transfer could be wrapped up this week meaning that the Brazilian will not play for Sevilla in their final game this weekend.

Goal.com - Barcelona - Barça Want €25m Alves Deal Done
Maybe a deal at €30m will be done?
Guardiola was announced early to get the fans off Laporta's back and the same thing is happening here. He wants to sign Alves early to get the fans off his back again.

El Barça ofrecerá 40 millones por Alves y Keita | SPORT | Barça
El Barcelona mete a Keita en la operación Alves - Marca.com
Mundo Deportivo - Culé Alves
Sport, EMD & Marca all claiming that Barca are trying to pull in both Dani Alves and Seydou Keita by next week. Sevilla want €45m for the pair, Sport claim Barca have offered 40m euros for the pair so a deal looks immenent. €30m for Alves and €15m for Keita which is his buyout clause.
Barcelona have already agreed a 5 year contract with Alves.
I think Seydou Keita would be perfect for Barcelona. We need a tough tackling central midfielder who can drag the play forward rather than a Xabi or Lucho player as they might be a bit too similar to what we've already got.
Alves we all know he'd be perfect for Barca's style of play but is £20m too much?

£20m is stiff but if someone wanted to sign him they had to pay a lot of money.

wonderful!
alves is by far the most important player to sign for next year.
I like keita, I'm very pleased with this signing... but I hope it is not a sign that toure is leaving because I'm not sure guardiola has toure in his plans.

lionel, long time no see, did you enjoy El Clasico and La Ligas table?
However,
two great signings by FC Barcelona. Two players that can reinforce this team from day one. Much money, yes but quality is not cheap.

Alves posing with the Barca shirt again.
Barca's plan is the get 5-10m euros off the price through bargaining but if that doesn't go to plan then pay the money and present the players next week to get the fans off Laporta's back a bit. Evil plan

And a badge in the shape of a heart....how cruel.
So what's Barca's 'next great XI' going to look like? I personally don't see it matching the level Ronaldinho and Eto'o elevated it to at their best.

Alves should probably get a fine for that.
The next 11 will probably be:
------------------- Eto'o?
-- New LW ------------------- Messi
---------Iniesta -------- Xavi/Keita
--------------- Toure/Keita
- Abidal -- Milito ----- Puyol --- Alves
-------------------- VV
Will be a 4-3-3 probably most of the time but with a lot of rotating on formations. Hleb or Silva will probably replace Ronaldinho.

Not nearly as imposing as it once was. And I forgot to mention the player that made it all tick too, Deco. Deco, Ronaldinho, Eto'o & Messi (D.R.E.&.M is over).

^^^ Defence is a lot better, midfield is about the same but the attack is a lot worse without a Ronaldinho in his prime.
Mundo Deportivo - Empieza la ofensiva por Alves y Keita
Barca want to wrap up Alves and Keita by next weekend so they can present them. The rumoured price is 40m euros.

you are right.
but. the good thing about barcelona is that they learn (hopefully!) from mistakes of others:
look at the galacticos project of real madrid. every season they failed, they just bought more and more cracks. and they ended up with 3 shameful seasons.
so, inorder to get out of this loop of failures, the correct move would be, IMO, to go one step(or two) backwards with the quality of the squad.

noo. eto'o is no way to stay. Henry/Bojan would be in that position, or maybe a new striker (benzema or adebayor)
as for the LW position, I still have something in me saying ronaldinho might be there! but the more possible options are Henry/giovanni or Silva/Hleb. David Silva would be best.
I am so worried... I won't be satisfied untill I see alves presented at the camp-nou. the garay thing must not happen again.
