Default Rijkaard And 16 Players Miss Training

Barcelona's training session on Monday morning reflected the collapse of all normality at the club with no less than 16 players and Frank Rijkaard being absent.

After the protests before, during and after the defeat to Mallorca only hours before, just eight first teamers opted to show up for behind closed dors practice on the pitch in front of La Masia.

Rijkaard was praised by the media and fans on Sunday and is set to leave Camp Nou with his head held high, but he left Juan Carlos Unzue, Paco Seirulo and Albert Rocas to take training.

Deco, who was roundly booed before being substituted at half time against Mallorca, was given until Wednesday off, while Samuel Eto'o, Gianluca Zambrotta and Rafa Márquez were all absent with injuries.

All four are on the a leaked list of players that could be moved on in the summer, but many more names will join them as Barça prepare a mass clear-out to restore some order.

Yaya Touré, Lilian Thuram, Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry and Edmílson were all reported to be training in the gym, while Andrés Iniesta and Eidur Gudjohnsen did laps of the pitch in Camp Nou.

Xavi was away with a fever and Ronaldinho, Gaby Milito, Sylvinho and Albert Jorquera are all out with long-term problems of their own.

The players that did attend were Víctor Valdés, José Manuel Pinto, Éric Abidal, Bojan Krkic, Santi Ezquerro, Oleguer, Giovani Dos Santos and Puyol, as well as B team starlets Fali and José Manuel Rueda.

First team players' training habits have contributed to the rumoured discord within the Bará camp with some believed to be given special dispensation while others are not.

No one cares anymore. As many as 17 players will leave I think although realistically it will be more near 10.

Guardiola has to serious whip some arses back into shape and introduce a new disciplinary code.
