So you're offer is €1 million higher than Juve's. Zaragoza really are a bunch of cunts. Unless they're in a sensitive financial situation, I dont understand y they choose to sell to a rival for €1 million more, especially when the player asked for a move to Italy.

^ I think milito chose barca... he was saying in the last few days many things about coming to barca:"I would love to play with messi" "playing for barca is a dream come true" "I'm so excited about barca...".
barca and zaragoza can't be considered as rivals, not just there's no competition about ranking between the 2 teams, but barca also loans to zaragoza many players, and the teams have a great transfer relationship..

The Messi and Barca quotes are funny. The same tactic was used with Juve during this transfer saga. The reporter asks him a direct question ie: "Would u like to play with Messi?". I dont expect him to say no, as that points to something personal. Its the reporters luring them in. Regardless, the fact remains that he had agreed a contract in principle with Juve b4 (and over) Barca, but Zaragoza were the stumbling block. He wanted to play in Italy because of his Italian ancestry, and that sounds very valid to me, especially since Argentina and Italy are close nations. There are many Italians in Argentina (look at the names), and vice versa.
In the end, its worked out well for both Juve and Barca. Juventus arent in CL next season, so it was a wiser decision to go for the cheaper option in Andrade, as it leaves us with some extra cash if we want to make another signing. Picking between Milito and Andrade is splitting hairs. They're both great cb's.

Well it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Personally id much rather see Chivu at Barca. They need someone who can keep it tight AND play it up to the advancing players. You have some serious Hotrods on the team (Henry, Eto'o, Messi) and if you have someone dropping the ball at their feet from 60m away then your gonna see goals galore.

Barca Agree Terms With Milito, Zaragoza Deal Close
Quote:
Reports out of Spain suggest that Gabriel Milito is on the verge of a move to Barcelona.
The move has been in the offing ever since the Chivu deal fell through over wage demands, with Barcelona moving quickly for the Argentine, and the player himself sending out all the right signals.
A final decision was set to be made only after the Copa America, but it seems like Barcelona want to seal the deal without much ado.
As expected this time around, they have spoken about the player's wage demands well before making an approach, during informal negotiations with the Milito's agent.
Spanish dailies Marca and Sport are both claiming that Barcelona have agreed a four year deal with the Argentine international, worth four million euros a season.
An agreement with Real Zaragoza is also said to be close, with a deal in the region of 18-20 million euros set to be struck.
As Goal.com had reported yesterday, the La Romareda bosses are asking for no less than 20m (which was what turned Juventus away), while Barcelona are trying to throw Thiago Motta and Santi Ezquerro into the deal, to reduce the cash component.

Gabriel Milito To Sign For Barcelona After Copa América
Quote:
According to reports published in a Barcelona sports daily, the transfer of Gabriel Milito from Real Zaragoza to FC Barcelona is just a matter of time…
Although Spanish sports papers are rather like politicians instead of objective newspapers at times – both Madrid and Barcelona versions surfing the fine line between being factual and being wishful – Catalan daily Sport insists that Milito will sign for Barça as soon as the current Copa América ends.
With the Final taking place on Sunday 15/07/07, Sport is betting that next week will see the Albiceleste defender sign for the Blaugranas. The long-running soap opera over who will be the new addition to the Barça defence appears to be nearing a solution, although the same sources also claim that the Chivu option is still open.
Citing the fact that Milito specifically asked for peace and quiet to concentrate on what would be Argentina’s record fifteenth Copa (the Albiceleste are tied 14-14 with Uruguay, Brazil having won only seven times), the paper claims that economic differences between the two clubs is minimal.
FC Barcelona have upped the ante to €15 million; one more than the ‘unmoveable’ €14 million that VP Ferran Soriano was said to be sticking to come hell or high water. Not only has the basic bar been raised, but the deal is said to include an extra €3 million if Barça attain all three titles in sight next season: Liga, Copa del Rey and a third Champions League.
The Maño club had been holding out for a cool €20 million from FC Barcelona, but are apparently set to settle for two million less…if one of the targets is met. The only difference is that Zaragoza want the full 18 million if Barça get either La Liga or the Champions. The extra money has ben offered as a direct result of Juve signing Jorge Andrade.
imprimir enviar foro valorar aumentar texto disminuir texto Buena sinergia entre los técnicos
Miguel Pardeza, the Real Zaragoza sporting director, knows that Gaby Milito, a wants to sign for Barça, seeing the chance to strike while the iron’s hot, and Txiki Begiristain and Pardeza have been in close contact by telephone. The only real obstacle is the iron hand of Zaragoza majority shareholder Agapito Iglesias, still hopeful that as time ticks by Barca will be forced to raise the offer to €20 million.

In light of Madrid signing Pepe, Chivu saying it's Roma or Inter and Juventus signing Andrade, I think it's very likely that Barca will cough up the €18million to make sure they get a CB.

Barcelona To Seal Milito Deal Today
Reports coming out of Barcelona suggest that Gabriel Milito could become a Barca player today.
Barcelona have agreed a four year contract worth 4 million euros a season with Milito, but have been negotiating over the transfer fee being demanded by Real Zaragoza.
That discussion is set to come to an end today, claim Sport. What was a difference of 5 million euros last week is now down to 2.5, with Real Zaragoza demanding 18.5 million euros and Barcelona offering 16m along with a variable sum.
A deal worth 17 million, with up to 3m more through performance related clauses, is expected to be struck.
That Zaragoza have rejected Juventus' final offer worth 18 million euros has further speeded up negotiations.
The player is also itching to move to Barcelona, seemingly still seething over that failed Bernabeu medical a few years ago. He will travel to Barcelona after the Copa America and complete the formalities.
The Catalan giants are moving quickly to sign a centre-half, as skipper Carles Puyol will be out of action until October after picking up a knee injury.
An out of form Rafael Marquez, an ageing Lilian Thuram and the much maligned Oleguer are the other alternatives for Rijkaard at the moment.

Barcelona Announce Gabi Milito Deal
FC Barcelona have confirmed that they have agreed to sign Gabriel Milito from Real Zaragoza after the protracted chase for the defender came to an end on Wednesday.
The Blaugrana's technical secretary, Txiki Begiristain, was delighted to have finally struck a deal for the Argentinian international.
Having agreed personal terms with the player before he departed for the Copa América, Barça held lengthy negotiations with Zaragoza about the transfer fee.
While the amount has yet to be disclosed, the Catalan giants announced that an agreement had been reached and that Milito will signa four-year deal with buy-out clause of €90m.
"Milito was the best option," Begiristain stated. ""We know him well.
"He has played in the Spanish league for four years at a very high level. He is a leader both on the field and in the dressing room as well as being a great professional with so many qualities.
"He is aggressive, quick, strong in the air and has a good left foot."
Milito will undergo a medical at Camp Nou after he has finished playing in the Copa América for Argentina and will then be allowed to take a short break before joining the squad for pre-season training.
The 26-year-old moved to Real Zaragoza from Independiente in 2003 after the Aragónese outfit moved in when Real Madrid stated that he had not passed a medical at the Bernabéu.
In the proceding four years, the 1.76m-tall defender went on to make 138 appearances for Zaragoza without incurring any major injuries.
Milito is FC Barcelona's fourth summer signing following the arrival of Éric Abidal, Yaya Touré and Thierry Henry.

It's also announced official in the Spanish and Catalan section of the Barca site.
I'm very pleased with this signing. £12m or so may seem expensive but it was a much better deal than £20m for Pepe (or we'll see).
Barca have said they also don't want to sell Marquez and the papers are dubbing him as the "no.12" in that he is first backup at CB and also first backup as DM and with Puyol out for near 2 months of the season it will probably be Marquez - Milito for a lot of it and Marquez will play DM when Yaya goes to the African Nations.
