they need a new formation unless they plan to bench one of Henry or Eto. If I am no mistaken, Barca plays a 433 or 4321 (or whatever you want to call it) with one striker and Ronaldinho and Messi on the wings.

I guess 442 is the most likely variation, but I don't think it would work to play:
--------Eto'o--Henry
Ronnie--------------Messi
-------dm/cm--dm/cm

It's just to attacking. I guess you could argue for rotation, but you still need a new formation to make that work.

That trade was ridiculous, but like barracuda said, it's unwise to expect henry to join and the 3 star attackers to stay...

Assuming Iniesta/Xavi will be one of the cm/dms in the formation barra posted, that team is already far too attacking. if that is Barcelona's plan, then that's fine by me, Barca's defence is already relatively weak and any decent team would dominate the midfield... Obviously Ronaldinho, Messi et al would create chances, but they won't be seeing so much of the ball if the supply is cut off so they could probably be stiffled by any half-decent team...

ronaldinho is best when he is free! when he has no orders..
just like last season.. when he played on the right, left & center.. he is a very smart player that always(mostly) finds the best spot to be on..
when you give ronaldinho orders ( e.g. the WC) he becomes a very not brilliant player.. very normal, let's say.

my idea was to play in the same way barca played against espanyol this saturday, with henry instead of thuram/zambrotta/gio.. so they can play with 3 CBs, 1/2 DMF, 1/2 MF, 2 wingMF, 2 CFs(henry will be SS as he likes)..

that's a strong midfield... with one of the 4 wonderfuls(

) helping in the midfield, the midfield will no doubt be excellent..
the problem now is the deffence.
as they played against espanyol - it wouldn't matter 3 or 4 defenders.. the defence sucks anyway! never had one good match since 1 'n' a half years, against chelsea in the stamford-bridge.. and 3 defenders will be great, because the main problem was the WBs who kept leaving the defence and going to the other half, now it won't be possible..

don't expect those 4 to be fit for the whole year.. I don't think it will occur too much that all of them are available.. eto'o will go to the african championships.. messi will be tired after the copa america.. henry is old.. and all of them get injured too much..

and what will happen if eto'o is benched? or henry? or messi? or ronaldinho? the end of the world?
and maybe ronaldinho/messi will be playing as midfielder ( I heard rijkaard once that messi is plannd to play as a midfielder from next season..)

) point, I thought of it a lot.. but I'm convinced that I want henry in barca! no matter!

That's fine, but then Messi is on the bench. Ronaldinho has been playing coming in from the left though, but can surely play both roles. My only point is that one of the 4 has to be sold or sit on the bench and all of them are too good to be on / accept the bench.

That might work in the league agains the lower half teams, but you'd be eaten alive against the top team and in the CL. It has no where close to enough defensive coverage.

Henry and Eto'o won't both play for Barça.
If Henry indeed comes (and it won't be for less than 40m € otherwise Wenger is a complete moron) then it means Eto'o is definately leaving.

Rijkaard is stupid, but not stupid enough to play 3-3-4.

I doubt that.. against liverpool in anfield we played 3-4-3.. and we won

3-4-3 isn't much different from 3-3-4 when ronaldinho and messi can go a bit back and help...
