Default Barcelona To Launch Amauri Bid

Italian Press: Barcelona To Launch Amauri Bid

Reports coming out of Italy suggest that Barcelona are interested in Palermo striker Amauri.

The Brazilian has returned from a lengthy injury lay-off that saw him miss the second half of last season, and is working his way back towards peak form.

The list of his admirers is long, and includes clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester City and Milan, but latest reports suggest that Barcelona are the ones taking a serious interest in signing him, as early as in January.

Despite having plenty of names, Frank Rijkaard is still lacking bite up front, and it was apparent once again against Real Valladolid.

Samuel Eto'o is still a month away from a return, and will again have to leave for the African Nations Cup, while Thierry Henry has yet to settle in.

Eidur Gudjohnsen has been used in a midfield role of late, prompting suggestions that the Catalans will make a swoop in January.

There is nothing concrete coming out of the club at the moment, but Barcelona have been interested in him in the past.
a swoop with gudjohnson would be very good. and I don't beleive gudjohnson is going to stay after january.

but is a striker is what we need atm? we have only 1.5 defensive midfielders and very few center midfielders. plus, toure is going to be absent for a month and a week in february.

I am not very familiar with amauri, can someone describe him? how good? and what positions can he play at?

Would be a great buy, but he would be really expensive. He would really give us another dimension upfront. A threat in the air and unlike most target men he has good pace/dribbling.

Though i would still be careful, because he probably still hasn't regained the form he showed before his knee injury,

A swoop with Gudjohnsen would be good, indeed.

But a solo transfer would be useless.

You guys don't need him at all.

Amauri's Agent: My Client's Worth 25 Million Euros

Amauri's agent is adamant that his star asset will not be leaving Palermo for any less than 25 million euros...

Amauri's agent has told Radio Kiss Kiss that his client is worth his weight in gold, and then some.

What's more, Mariano Grimaldi was quick to deny that there were issues between the Brazilian and president Mauro 'Zampa' Zamparini that were preventing the two from co-operating.

The representative remarked, "He's worth 25 million euros, and it's no secret that he's being tracked by some of Europe's biggest clubs.

"Of course he wants to play in the Champions League: if he's left alone, perhaps he can do that with Palermo.

"The Palermo hierarchy know the whole situation. And, for that matter, rumousr that he has problems with Zamparini are completely unfounded."

Just this month, outspoken president Zampa in fact named his own price - a cool 28.5 million euros - for Amauri; while there's a slight discrepancy in the figures, it's clear that boss and agent alike rate the player highly.

Amauri, 27, arrived at Palermo from Chievo Verona at the start of last season for around 8 million euros. He has yet to be capped by the Brazilian national team boss, Dunga.

really with messi, ronhaldhino, henry, eto'o, krkic, giovanni going forward you shouldn't need anyone worth 25m to add.

If we play 1 striker then that's Bojan, Henry/Eto'o and Gudjohnsen on the bench. I think Amauri would also end up on the bench more often than not and I'd rather give the minutes to Bojan.
