This is not official from Barcelona and none of the Spanish newspapers have mentioned this.

Stupid move. If Eto'o gets injured or killed (This is Saudi Arabia we are talking about after all!), then we will be in some serious shit

Horseshit.

Some parts of the mid-east are well developed, and house some of the richest people in the world. That is one of them. This is a smart move from barcelona. Cameroon breeds alot of talent, they'll go to Al Ittihad , and guess who's next in line after the palyers develop well?....Barca.

As he is not going to the world cup i can see why he is doing it but this could affect him for next season especially if he picks up an injury. The most important part of the season for a player is pre season, if he dont get a pre season behind him due to being injured, then barca will have problems

If he was in the WC, he's more likely to pick up an injury and worse, than in the Asian CL.

I agree about the pre-season though.

Default Etoo out 2-3 months

Quote:
The Cameroon international was stretchered off after 65 minutes of Barca's 1-1 Champions League draw away to Werder Bremen.

Club doctor Ricard Pruna later told the club's website that Eto'o had torn and displaced the meniscus of his right knee.

"This type of injury occurs with a sudden change in the direction of the knee," said Dr Pruna.

The 25-year-old is therefore definitely out of the next two Group A games against Chelsea and looks unlikely to feature again for the Catalan giants until after the winter break.

Barca coach Frank Rijkaard had feared the worst after the Weserstadion clash, telling a news conference: "Sadly it seems Eto'o has an injury to his right knee and it could be a meniscus problem.

"We'll have to do some tests and see what the medical staff say."

tbh im happy/sad. now if we beat barce they will all say well we didnt have etoo.

but then again last year we didnt have our main man Essien or Duff.

There is no doubt Barcelona will be missing him. From what I've seen so far from Gudjohnsen, I would say that he is not good enough for Barcelona. Chelsea are the favourites to win the group now.
