Actually Pennywise's talk of youth system has reminded me how great our own youth system is compared to the rest in Europe.
We can make a decent team using all the Barca trained talent from the first team.
------------------------------- Valdes
--------- Oleguer ---------- Puyol ----------- Marc Valiente
------------------------------- Motta
--------- Xavi ---------------- Crosas ---------- Iniesta
--------Messi--------------------------------------Dos Santos
------------------------------ Bojan
Formation doesn't really work but that's 11 players from our 25 not including Jorquera. If I stick Motta at LB then that's a pretty decent 4-3-3.

Casillas would get in and so would Sammy Eto'o, who is ours now
But I think those 2 and Guti over Crosas and Torres over Valiente would be it, although Real don't really have an oufield player in the class of Messi, Puyol, Xavi or Iniesta.
Valencia also have a decent academy with Albelda, David Silva, Raul Albiol. As do a lot of other Spanish teams.

from my bit limited knowledge, I think that barca and atletico madrid have the best academies.. valencia are good too.
eto'o never trained with real madrid.. he came from africa, stayed a few days there, and when the prez saw his ugly face he decided to loan him to mallorca. (thats how eto'o tells the story).
their goalkeepers are much better than ours. thats a fact.

Jeffren as a fullback
Then there are ton of other youngsters below them. Iago( originally from real madrid),gai assulin, thiago alcantara.
I would say most top spanish sides take good care of their youth sides.
Sevilla, atletico madrid, barcelona are probably the best. Real madrid youth team is impressive, but they rarely get the chance to play for the first team.
Granero, bueno, javi garcia,Adán and previously mata/iago before they left. Plus they have the added bonus of having their castilla side in the segunda division.
Ah i also forgot sporting gijon and albacete. They produce some great talent occasionally.
The basque country use to produce a lot, but now it's rare. Latest ones are only javi martinez/ismael lopez/raul garcia.
Valencia youth team wasn't all that impressive in the past. Though now they have been collecting spanish youngsters and improving their facilities.
As you have seen with silva/albiol and other youngsters such as elapzez/ximo.
After all that atletico madrids youth team impresses me. Really like Mario Suarez from there and camacho looks class.

Primera derrota de Guardiola - SPORT - Futbol Català
Guardiola suffers his first defeat as Barca B manager. I think in his first game they beat Gramanet B but in this latest game they lost 2-1 to a team called "Vic", I have no idea if that's an abbreviation.
Interestingly Guardiola uses a 4-3-3, this may be partly to teach the Barca youngsters to play in a 4-3-3 so they'll know it when they step up (as Rijkaard seems he'll never change it).
In the squad I have only heard of Sito Riera who was our goalscorer.
Quote:
|
Barça B: Planchería, Fali, Xavi Torres, Bolaños, Josué, Fontás, Pedrito, Sito Riera, Víctor Sánchez, Abraham y Pons. También jugaron González, Pau, Toribio, Pedro, Matamala, D.Alvarez y Espasadín
|
I'll keep an eye on Josep Guardiola as he's Barca's most succesful player and he may well become Barca's manager in the future.

14 Barca B players in the squad for the catalunya cup semi-final match, tomorrow against girona. only 8 first team players will be in the squad while many youngsters will try to impress rijkaard and ourselvs.

Good news, but bojan's father is getting upset that dos santos is receiving more attention than his son.
Stupid imo, bojan needs to calm down and wait for his time.
Surprised his father said this since he is a scout at Barcelona.

realy surprising and stupid.
of course dos sanos will get more attention! he had his debut for the first team! why should they give more attention to krkic who disappeared somewhere in asia? when krkic will make his debut he will get that attention.

Krkic Now Targets Barca Impact
Bojan Krkic is determined to prove his worth to FC Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard after returning to the Catalan club after the Under-17 World Championships.
The young striker took the tournament by storm in Korea and his future has been the subject of debate in the media back in Spain during the summer.
Now he is hoping for another chance to push for a few first team appearances this season by working hard and copying Giovani Dos Santos.
"I was very envious seeing him play with the first team," Krkic, 17, joked after Dos Santos played against Athletic in the league.
"I think that is a great player who works very hard
"I will try and prove myself in training. If I can join the squad as soon as possible. I will take things little-by-little and will seize every chance I receive.
"Maybe we will both reach that level for that reason.
Krkic joined Barça on their pre-season trip to Scotland and was reluctant to leave to go and play in the World Championships, but enjoyed himself once he was there.
"It was difficult to leave," he admitted. "It had nothing to do with going to play for Spain because appearing the World Championships was thrilling, it was because at that time I was living the dream and it was hard for me to leave.
"Things went well for me. I felt comfortable and very at home alongside the first team players and I enjoyed that a lot.
"Once the tournament started though I forgot all that and really enjoyed it.
"Playing out there helped a lot. On the pitch it helped me become better known and as a person it helped me grow and I improved a few things."
Now Krkic wants to rejoin the first team and understands that Samuel Eto'os injury could create an opening for him.
"I have been kept informed every day about what is happening at the club and reading the internet or speaking with my parents," he continued.
"It was a stroke of bad luck for Eto'o and the team, but it is true that there is one less forward competing for a place.
"But I will continue to remain calm and have confidence in my game. I will continue to give 100 per cent and will be there when I am required.
"I have not set any targets. For now, I only want to think about playing football and to adapt to the new way of life that I am going to have."

Found an interesting little link.
FCBarcelona.cat
Here on the Barca site you can view all the Barca squads from Barca B down to Alevi and Benjami B.
Also shows where they are in the table. Barca B under coach Pep Guardiola are currently 2nd in Tercera Catalunya.
Gai Assulin has made a big impact on Barca B and could be promoted next season to the A team. A lot of good young players in Barca B including Oier Olazábal who many say will replace Jorquera as Barca second keeper next year. Also Victor Vasquez, Iago (youngest player and Juvenil A top scorer) and Marc Crosas who is being merged into the first team at the moment.
Looks like Gai might follow up Giovani DS and Bojan
