Default Barcelona to offer £5m for Lovenkrands

http://www.etims.net/index.php?optio...id=1269&Itemid

Quote:
Scottish Champions RANGERS were last night bracing themselves for a £5m offer from Barcelona for Golden Boot favourite Peter Løvenkrands.

The Spanish giants, second favourites behind Rangers to win this season’s Champions League, are expected to make their first offer to purchase the goalscoring sensation amid speculation also linking the free-scoring Dane with Real Madrid and Juventus. Scottish Champions Rangers have already made public their £10m valuation of the player whose contract expires in the summer. The Day Late Ranger understands that they would reluctantly accept £7.5m but Barcelona are expected to make an initial offer of £5m to test the Scottish Champions resolve.

Manager of Barcelona Frank Rijkaard was sent home yesterday by club doctors to recover from a bout of mild amnesia after he also sanctioned the offer of £3m for Bob Malcolm and is not expected to make training this week. However, the Barcelona board will look to persuade Løvenkrands to join the club's quest to retain the Primera Liga title in favour of Scottish Champions Rangers' forthcoming Champions League tie against Spanish minnows Villarreal.

Last night, Diving Ivan, Løvenkrands' agent, was reported to be in Perthshire at Steel magnate David Murray’s luxurious retreat to discuss with the World’s leading entrepreneur his clubs stance over a player who is almost certain to finish the season as Europe’s leading goalscorer. The Day Late understands that while Løvenkrands' preference is to await interest from England’s Premiership, the Danish sensation may be tempted by the increased salary promised by Barcelona in their pursuit of a second successive title.
