Tomáš Ujfaluši Thread
Atletico have also sealed the signing of Tomáš Ujfaluši.
He said after his last match that he will be defending the red and white of Atletico Madrid next season. He'll join on a free transfer.
Thing is that Heitinga admitted in an interview that Atletico have signed him to play CB and Ujfaluši can play RB so maybe they'll both play CB or one will go to RB.

Just wondering, How did Pablo, Perea and Seitardis play over the past season?
Ujfaluši and Heitinga are excellent signings.

Atletico's defense was awful this season .... Didn't watch many games for Atletico, but against Real Madrid, their weakest side was their defense.
But I don't really know how Pablo, Perea and Seitardis performed individually ...

Atletico Madrid Sign Ujfalusi
Quote:
Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Fiorentina defender Tomas Ujfalusi on a Bosman transfer.
The Czech Republic international had been strongly expected to sign for Atletico after revealing a few days ago that he was leaving Italy to move to Spain.
The 30-year-old has now officially signed a three year-contract with the Rojiblancos until 2011.
Ujfalusi joined Fiorentina from Hamburg in 2004, following that summer’s European Championships in Portugal. The 30-year-old had four excellent seasons at the Stadio Franchi, where he was one of the squad’s most influential players.
He made 149 appearances for the Viola, and yesterday the club issued a message of thanks for the service he gave.
“Sunday was Ujfalusi’s last game in a Fiorentina shirt and the club would like to remember the valuable contribution that this extraordinary player and great man has made over these four years,” a statement read.
“We have experienced some great times with him in the side and some times that we will never forget. On the day that he officially leaves, Fiorentina would like to demonstrate their gratitude to Ufo and wish him all the very best for his future.”
With his club future now sorted, Ujfalusi will turn his attention to preparing for Euro 2008 with the Czech Republic.

Tomáš Ujfaluši signs officially for Atletico Madrid and has signed a 3 year contract. Good signing I think.

Yeah, great defender, and a leader.
Atletico have done very well to get him.

Will he play CB or RB?
I heard they are playing Heitinga CB alongside Pablo. Is this true?

Heitinga said he was signed to play CB so that will mean Ufo will play RB or Pablo will be dropped. I'd probably play Ufo and Pablo in the centre with Heitinga RB if I was Aguirre.

Yeah I agree. That's what made that statement odd.
Exciting times for Atletico though.

Ujfalusi: Atlético Chance Too Good To Miss
Quote:
Tomas Ujfalusi has admitted that he jumped at the chance to join Atlético de Madrid once he heard of their interest and believes that he can help the club to glory.
The 30-year-old Czech Republic international opted to move to Spain when deciding to leave Fiorentina at the end of last season and is relishing his new challenge.
Atlético are back in the Champions League and Ujfalusi believes that it was too good an opportunity to miss out given the size and popularity of the club.
"I am very happy to have come to a great club like Atlético de Madrid, who are building a great team. They are one of the best known teams in Spain and Europe, with great players and I expect to win trophies here," he told reporters.
"When a player has the possibility to choose, he will choose the best. I had offers from several other teams, but when my agent told me about Atlético's interest I told him immediately that I liked the idea.
"I have played in German and Italian football and I wanted to have a different experience by playing in Spain.
"Having the chance to play for a great side like Atlético de Madrid is also something I wanted to try."
Ujfalusi can play across the back four and believes that was one reason why he received so many offers when it became clear he was on the move.
"It is an advantage that I can play in the centre of defence as well as at full-back. I have always played in the middle, but in the last three years I have started to play on the sides," he continued.
Finally, the former Sigma Olomouc and Hamburg defender hopes to meet Fiorentina in the Champions League, but not in the qualifying stage next month.
"I know that there is a chance that we could play Fiorentina and ut would be great for me, but I would prefer to face them later on and not now," he added.
