Strength in depth needed
Juan Pablo Angel has admitted that Aston Villa need to bring in more players - and become more consistent.
Angel believes that the future is bright for Villa based on what he has seen this season.
He said: "We have a great bunch of lads and we have worked so hard.
"We have quality but we need to get in more players because it is difficult to go through a season with 14 or 15 first-team players.
"I think we have the smallest squad in the Premiership. It's good to be in the position we are but there is a long way to go.
"Our problem is that we need more consistency in our games. But we have to keep going as that is football."
While Angel is keen to see Villa bring in more senior players, he is also excited by the emergence of the club's rising stars.
He added: "It is good getting youngsters coming through the squad but you cannot afford to have too many in the team at the same time as they lack experience.
"They need to spread their appearances and I am sure the likes of Peter Whittingham, Stefan Moore, Luke Moore and Liam Ridgewell will be very successful players."
nail on the head by angel but we cant rely on youth. we need to slowly blend them into the team with some older players. and not bargain basement crap like ellis wants us to get..... fuckin twat.....
