Bargain bin trawl for boss
Aston Villa manager David O'Leary has confirmed he will be raiding the free transfer market this summer to strengthen his squad at Villa Park.
O'Leary has little cash to spend but hopes the new players he does bring in will make as big an impact as his first three additions, Thomas Sorensen, Gavin McCann and Nolberto Solano.
"The three signings have come into the Villa side and done marvellously well," said O'Leary.
"It has also brought the best out of the likes of Juan Pablo Angel and Lee Hendrie.
"We have a small squad of about 17 players at the present time. Of those 17 players, five of them complete their contracts at the end of the season.
"Included in that 17 we are counting the likes of Luke Moore, who is untested at the present time.
"We do need more players but the way we're looking is for players on free transfers. That's what I've got to do.
"I've been told there is a little money to spend and it's possible that I've already had half of that with the signing of Nobby Solano.
"It is not lies that I was told at the start of the season to keep Villa in the Premiership. I had about £4m to spend which was spent on Sorensen and McCann.
"The agenda was to streamline the club and reduce the wage bill immensely. I think I have always been good at knitting a squad together."
fuckin ellis the penny pinching miserly old coffin dodging fucker. y dont he just fuck off and die and leave my club alone....................
