fans not convinced
Aston Villa supporters are unconvinced "anything will change" at the club after Doug Ellis' decision to quit as chief executive.
Ellis, who will remain as chairman, is to be replaced at the end of the campaign by former Fulham chief executive Bruce Langham.
But the Villa Fans Combined (VFC) believe major share-holder Ellis needs to relinquish his position at Villa completely and a "new and dynamic board" be installed if the club's fortunes are to improve.
VFC, in a statement, claimed: "VFC welcome Bruce Langham to the club but unfortunately fail to be convinced with Mr Ellis 'stepping down' as chief executive that anything will change.
"When VFC was first formed we called for a roots and branch change at the club. The branches may well have changed but the roots remain the same and after 22 years of running the club his way, the fans are not fooled by this appointment.
"VFC remain convinced this club needs a new and dynamic board in order to attract the quality of players that we need to not only challenge for honours but to convince players and managers alike that their future lies at Aston Villa."
i for one, dont think anything will change. ellis's ego is too big to let someone else hav too much of a hand in things. we need ellis out to be copletely free of the old coffin dodger's crap decision making and lack of business skills..................
