Villa are once again showing great pride in their heritage after the creation of a new mosaic masterpiece.

The five-piece design, produced by Mosaic Workshop, now adorns the outer wall of the Holte End. The new mosaic has taken a lot of inspiration from the old design that featured on the Trinity Road Stand.

The 2008 version has been installed by skilled Italian craftsmen while the original mosaic was set up by Oreste Bortoli, who had arrived in Birmingham from Italy in 1902.

Both were made up of five panels while, once again, gold leafed tiles have been used for the crest's lion and text as they were on the original.

Marketing executive Dan Meredith told Home | Aston Villa "This new move follows a big push by the club to appreciate tradition and follows hot on the heels of the re-emergence of the Holte Pub and the installation of traditional fingerpost signs around the ground.

"We hope our supporters are delighted with the new creation."

i love randy lerner...
