villa u19s into semis...
beating carlisle 2-0...
harry forrester scored the first with nathan delfouneso with the assist...
barry bannon from the spot after james collins fouled in the box for the second...
their keeper was probably man of the match, and kept the score down...
marc allbrighton was quiet by his standards, but barry bannon and harry forrester were two of our better players...
the best from us though was the exciting delfouneso...
here are a few comments from some carlisle fans,
Quote:
"can we sign their No.10 on loan is all i am saying from that game, he looks superb for a young player."
"At half time I was struggling to think of a player I've seen in League One this season as good as Villa's number ten. He was fantastico."
"Delfouneso is an England under 17 international. Will appear in the Premier League before too long. Was a delight to watch."
|
delfouneso is quality... i cant see a real weakness to his game... be interesting to see him out on loan.. after the final of course..
he is the sort of player who will sometimes drop deep and link up the play, and sometimes, he will poach in the box..
which is what makes him very dangerous as its difficult to mark him...
hes very intelligent for a kid just turned 17...
that, along with his pace strength and very quick feet is why i really rate this kid as probably the best prospect we have had from the academy in years..
looking forward to the semi...

Harry Forrester ex Watford. Damn it. He would of been in our first team this year How is he progressing?
Is the no.10 = Delfouneso?

good cup tbh,
as there is still three quality players left in this cup Sturridge, Delfouneso and Gael Kakuta who has 4 goals and 4 assist in this comp.
we gonna meet City in the final, over two legs better team come out on top.

drew 1-1 with chelsea in the first leg of the semi...
delfouneso for the villa and philip for chelsea 2 mins from the end with the goals...
tbf, we should have had a pen and we missed quite a few chances that we normally would have put away...
dont think either side did themselves justice tbh...
delfouneso was very quiet despite his goal.. our right winger marc allbrighton was good for us though...
and their right winger, miroslav stoch, was good for them...
overall a draw was a fair result and i am looking forward to the return leg...

draw was good result, concidering your keeper made two world class saves, and we hit the post.
I dont see it as a pen, because bruma arms wern't outside his body, would of been harsh.
I went to the game, I thought it was brill to watch, one sided first half to Chelsea then 2nd half it was very end to end.
Delfeneso is deffeintly talented, he took his goal with ease, as he had done nothing before his goal well kept abay from Bruma and Van Ainholt who played great, but he took the goal like no problems.
For me watching, he was only player that stood out for Villa, your keeper only made the one mistake , which cost the goal.
Stoch caused your fall backs nightmare, 95% won one on one battles outskilled and outpaced, was great to watch, shame his final delivery is only good 1/5 times.
He was my motm, shame about Gael Kakuta, who is so great to watch, he was doing his tricks all over the pitch, his ball to pick out stoch was great for the goal, his ball for melis on the volley , which Melis should of scored, Gael was founded out in the middle , why moved to wing , where he did get more of the ball.
Melis should of scored in the last attack, shame.
All in all great game to watch, I hope to go to he 2nd leg.. which is at villa park?

we wasted a lot of chances, james collins in particular with one effort which would have made it 0-2... think both sides had spells where they looked dangerous...
allbrighton was probably our best player on the night, without ever really hitting top form... forrester, clark and bannon played ok, but nothing like they can...
they are better than that...
i assume some of yours are better than they performed too... kakuta in particular, as i have heard good things about him, but he didnt perform at all...
as mentioned, a draw was probably fair on both sides...
the second leg is at villa park... im really looking forward to going down and hopefully there will be a good crowd...

Agreed, your right winger is that Albrighton? he was causing problems for England under 17 lb, ben gordon.
Clarke kept Neilson abay pretty much all game.
I forgot about that chance after you scored, it was deserved draw, I didn't think we deserved to lose.
I posted highlights and photos above ya post if ya missed them.
Should be a good game, attendence was around 6k last night which is great.

cheers for the links...
i dont think either side deserved to lose tbh... was quite evenly matched, despite both sides never really getting out of first gear... shows the quality of both sides for me...
marc allbrighton was the right winger...
he is a talented player...
clark is a quality defender too...
are you coming up for the return leg?
