Default sha 1-2 aston villa

excellent result for us...

thought the ref was a bit harsh on them with some of his decisions, but delighted with the win!!!

feel a little sorry for ridgewell as he was excellent apart from his two mistakes, but unfortunately for the kid, this game sums him up in a nutshell.... then i remember hes a small heathen and i have to laugh...

thought we did enough overall to win the game, and thought gabbys goal was superb just after clearing off the line at the other end...

thought we were fairly poor overall tbh, but a blood and thunder derby isnt going to be free flowing football...

thought petrov was the best player on the pitch, closely followed by ashely young... gabby worked hard, but again, his poor movement and decision making looked like stopping him from scoring... but he pulled it out of the bag in the end...

carson - 7 - excellent when called upon and solid on the catch...
mellberg - 6 - pulled out of position far too often and lacks an attacking element to his game...
knight - 4 - at fault for their goal with rash decision making and parting the defence like the red sea, and almost gave away a penalty...
laursen - 5 - almost gave away a pen and made some poor decisions with some tackles...
bouma - 6 - same old bouma... solid defending, but poor going forward...
reo-coker - 6 - ran around a lot and closed down... shocking miss though...
barry - 7 - composed on the ball...
petrov - 8 - excellent on the ball, good passing, good closing down and generally excellent...
young - 8 - always dangerous when running with the ball....
agbonlahor - 7 - poor movement again, but worked hard and won the game with a clearance and then the goal...
carew - 5 - not fit and showed... shocking shooting, but held up the ball well enough...

moore - 5 - didnt look sharp, but he is always a threat with his intelligent movement...

overall, we werent at our best, but deserved the win...

Young is the Englsish C.Ronaldo.

Redknapp and co said he should be in the England team before the game

I actually went to this game and was a brilliant game. If this aint high on MOTD il be pissed. I think draw would have been a fair result but Ashley Youngs performance was the difference maker along with Agbanlahor who cleared a winning goal for blues before scoring the winner.

The atmosphere was electric all game, Villa fans were loud after they scored but went quiet when Forrsell scored. There was a bit of a riot after the game too, which i dont think will be covered anywhere but it was a good game.

Thats the best I've seen Stilyan Petrov play since he joined Villa, thought he was superb.

Zat Knight surely must be replaced soon? I know Curtis Davies had a bit of a mare on his debut in the Carling Cup, but Knight has been getting progressively worse since a decent debut against Chelsea.....

Villa got a bit lucky tbh, Birmingham did enough to get a point at least. De Ridder looks a good player but he needs to work on the end product.

Agbonlahor is developing really well though as is Young, Agbonlahor's touch seems to be improving considerably as well.

I know Carew has only just come back from injury but he doesn't look great tbh, Moore did a good job when he came on I thought, he was the one who played it to Young who put in the cross for the 2nd goal.

Young was very decent for England last night.

Not like Joe Cole who gets the ball, back onto the right foot and back to Bridge

Very promising debut, wasnt nervous. Beat the player a couple of times, one very good cross for Crouch.

Shame about that shot, but it must of bounced up on him.

Plus a extra £300,000 for Watford but Villa have got the better deal got thee or one of the best English youngsters.
