Aston Villa 2 - 0 Derby

Good win for villa, but should we expect anything less than against derby ?

I like this aston villa side.. really attack the flanks with the pace of agbonlahor and young who i thought was overrated, but has really impressed me so far this season.

Derby frustrated them in the first half, but early into the second half villa got 2 goals. The first a great freekick swung in by young and then barry heading it across for laursen to tap in into an open net. Then young scoring a tap in as well for his second.

Derby can't stop losing and now they sit at the bottom of the table with a goal difference of -21

to be fair to derby, they stopped us in the first half and they battled for everything and turned the first half into a real battle....

second half we had to rethink the way we were playing and switched things around to play tricks on the derby backline...

which worked.... playing that 4-3-1-2 formation in the first half with petrov barry and reo coker in the centre, but with young wide left, leaving loads of space wide right, was stupidity beyond even the thickest muppett...

carson - 5 - naff all to do...
mellberg - 5 - cant cross.....
laursen - 7 - seems to have the scoring habit... not troubled defensively, but looked dodgy when called on....
knight - 5 - poor on the ball.... could do better...
bouma - 6 - same old bouma.. good defensively, poor going forward.
reo coker - 5 ran around a lot.....
petrov - 5 - comfortable on the ball...
barry - 6 - composed on the ball...
young - 7 - ran at players and offered us an attacking outlet....
agbonlahor - 5 - wake up you lazy shit....
moore - 4 - lazy performance.....

overall, we were very poor first half and although we were very poor, we deserved the win....
