i know this was only a friendly, but watching the villa comprehensively beat inter milan by playing excellent football and scaring the crap out of their defence every time we attacked them, was very encouraging...

especially as we had no recognised right back in the squad and we had by the end of the game, two rookie midfielders in the back four...

goals from barry x2 and laursen were the icing on the cake of a performance that was all about pace, energy, determination and a bit of bite...

the italians were just as feisty, and you could be forgiven for thinking it was a full game rather than a friendly, but they simply could not cope with the pace of gabby, moore, young, reo coker, etc....

i thought reo coker was excellent... got stuck in, was very vocal and did not allow anyone any time on the ball in the middle... gabby was fantastic and his trickery and pace were a constant threat to the italian defence... and at the back, martin laursen was an absolute rock...

overall., a fantastic performance from a young side...

oh, and one last mention about the referee... worst ref ever... rennie really is a pisspoor ref...

I'm not so happy with this news.Liverpool will open against Villa in real good shape and it will be real difficult to win.

Yeah, congrats on the win. We did not show up for this. No excuses though.

i think a lot of teams are going to struggle to deal with the pace of half of our side...

we do however, need quite a few reinforcements to make us anything other than top 8-ish in the league...

was pleased with the win over a world class side, however, im taking it with a pinch of salt as it was only a friendly...

although i would like to thank inter for having as much bite as we did and making it a decent game...
