Liam Ridgewell has completed his move from Villa to Second City rivals Birmingham City, after completing a medical at St Andrew's.
The 23-year-old found himself out of favour over the second half of last season after being a regular in the first four months of the campaign.
FA Youth Cup winner Ridgewell made his Villa debut in January 2003 and went on to make 93 senior appearances, scoring seven goals.

ridgewell is a frustrating player...
when hes on his game, hes a very good defender.. when hes off his game, he is a liability...
the fact that he has the mental strength to ignore his mistakes and not let it affect his confidence, is a testement to the kids attitude...
he will throw himself at things where others wouldnt and is very brave and is a very good header of the ball..
he is also half decent with the ball at his feet, for a clumsy defender anyway, and he will try and pass the ball rather than hoofing it... which can sometimes put him or a team mate in trouble....
he offers good balance to a central defensive partnership due to him being left footed and can play left back also...
he is also very dangerous from attacking set pieces and will chip in with his fair share of goals for a centre back...
but for all his positive points, all the good things he does, there is always the possibility that he will lose his concentration and make a monumental f*ck up and we will concede from his poor positioning or a stray pass, etc... he does not instill confidence when he is in the side, even when he is playing a blinder, he can f*ck up at any point....
personally, i will be sad to see him go, especially to small heath, as i think he would have been decent cover and competition as 5th choice, but obviously, he wants first team football and he wont get that at villa...
