Default Villa v West Ham

Quote:
West Ham will be looking to climb towards safety when they travel to out-of-form Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Hammers are three points behind freefalling Wigan and will be aware that victory over Villa could lift them out of the relegation zone for the first time since October.

West Ham are still seeking their second Premiership victory under Alan Curbishley following December's win over Manchester United, but the manager has been active in the transfer market and will hope to see his new recruits come to the fore.

Matthew Upson arrived from Birmingham this week and could be handed a debut against Villa in a new-look defence.

Lucas Neill will again miss out though, after injuring an ankle in the FA Cup defeat to Watford.

The Hammers also have Danny Gabbidon, James Collins (both groin) and Anton Ferdinand (calf) missing in defence, while Carlos Tevez (calf) is struggling, and Lee Bowyer (shoulder) and Dean Ashton (ankle) are out.

On-loan striker Kepa Blanco is pushing for a place in the starting line-up after scoring as a substitute against Liverpool in midweek, but Curbishley may opt to stick with Carlton Cole and Marlon Harewood.

Aston Villa have won just one of their last 13 Premiership matches and a European spot is now well out of reach, but Martin O'Neill will have been encouraged by the performances of his new forwards in the 3-1 defeat to Newcastle.

John Carew and Ashley Young both impressed, while Shaun Maloney was also snapped up from Celtic on deadline day and could feature.

Defender Wilfred Bouma could be doubtful after picking up a knock against The Magpies, while Chris Sutton's blurred vision has not improved and Villa are awaiting the results of his latest visit to the specialist.

Amzing, Upson goes off injured, and Niel went off injured. Not West ham season.

Mr. Carew has scored on his second game for Villa.
Good news.

a welll deserved victory for the villa...

was very impressed by our new signings...

especially carew....

"carew, carew, carew is on fire!!!"

thought the west ham fans were pretty quiet though...

a couple of "bubbles" songs which were quickly drowned out by 'whistles' or chants of "stick your bubbles up your arse"...

I heard Young had another good game. Your frontline is pretty tasty.

young set up the goal....

his movmement and touches are sublime...

he reminds me of dwight yorke in his prime..

he has amazingly, got a real understanding with carew too...

when moore is back fit, the front 3 is going to be superb...

moore carew young

with gabby and maloney to come off the bench and run at people late in the game when tired, its goint to cause a lot of teams problems...

I didnt realise Moore was better than Gabby.

Young doesnt take any corners or your free kicks yet does he? Did he get a good reception when he got subbed?

we were superb....

carew was immense.. when he came out of that little triangle of the 3 shammer players trying to sandwich him, with the ball, had me in awe...

our chant for him is great too.. "carew, carew, carew is on fire"

he really does look like he will fit into english football and looks like a bentley version of the robin reliant like peter crouch...

better in the air, stronger, better finisher, better on the deck, just a sublime player who will fit into the villa system well and english football...

he seems like he enjoys the rough and tumble of it all...

so pleased with him...

as for young, apart from setting up the goal....

his movmement and touches were sublime...

he reminds me of dwight yorke in his prime..

he has amazingly, got a real understanding with carew too...

when moore is back fit, the front 3 is going to be superb...

moore carew young

with gabby and maloney to come off the bench and run at people late in the game when tired, its going to cause a lot of teams a lot of problems...

we do however, need to sort out our midfield and defence...

still lapses in concentration and still too many long balls hoofed forward...

but we were better at keeping it on the deck yesterday, and only looked under any form of pressure when we reverted to long ball tactics, strangely enough, after carew went off....

but the signs are there, that mon is building his own side, and im liking what im seeing...

quick comment on the fans, villa fans were superb... singing all game and some good banter, especially towards upson...

atmosphere was superb, and fair play to the shammers for adding to that, as we knew you had numbers here and countered that by singing all game... (was a bit dissappointed with your noise levels inside the ground though, but that chelsea song by the fans walking to the ground did make me chuckle... as did the coppers searching your fans, and pulling a few into paddy wagons...)

but...

the tracy andrews songs are digusting....

and why do we have to sing about small heath when we arent playing them?!?

baffles me...

but all in all, a great day yesterday, as we extinguished any lingering thoughts of relegation and showed that the future really is bright...

the futures, the original claret and blue...

gabby is quicker, but is far more raw than moore...

moore is a little like young tbh...

technical, quick, sublime feet and a good footballing brain...

gabby is quick, quick, good finisher, but lacks the technical ability of moore and young, and seems to lack the intelligence too...

a great prospect and i love the kid, but he needs to work on some areas of his game...

as for the receptions, yea, he got a fantastic reception... as the team was announced, when he came by the holte, when he went off...

fans have taken to him real quick...

same as carew...

this season his corners have been up and down but still most of our goals this season have still came from his free kicks and corners. I think the corner takers at the club are under instruction to aim for Mackay back post.

he scored one direct free kick and has come close a couple of times. Very good from direct free kicks.

last season again his set pieces and corners set up loads of goals.

Plus with young all along i said for our side he would of been suited on the wing, try and get him on the ball, So he can run at players and feed the strikers. Similar story is happening to Hoskins similar type of player in that hes clever likes to be on the ball etc but we play hoof. Doesnt suit them atall.

he's at a better club than us now, people who will attack the ball better.

but then again you do rate Doyley so so sometimes your judgement cant be taken with much high seriousness.
