ellis: only chelsea better off than villa....
and some other ramblings about having to sell to buy, but not having to sell to buy....
.....yea, i thought that too

Ellis has had to make sweeping cuts throughout the club following their 16th-place finish.
He has even gone so far as revealing that Villa need to find £60million each year just to break even. But he remains adamant that only megabucks Chelsea have a better financial footing than Villa.
He said: "I know that the infrastructure of the club is better than any other club in the country with perhaps the exception of Roman Abramovich's Chelsea.
"We have 42,600 seats here. We have 120 private boxes. Our car park is full nearly every single day, with people coming to spend money with us - and I do need their money, very badly in commercial terms because there is a limit."
Villa saw average crowds fall some 3,000 to 34,000 last season and so Ellis is reliant on extra revenue being generated from elsewhere.
He added: "Our crowds have gone down quite considerably and therefore we have to recompense that differential by increasing the commercial income.
"We have signed up with a very good sponsor, 32 Red.com, and extended Hummel's contract, and one or two other people are signing up as Platinum Sponsors to spend £100,000 or £200,000 with us."

Doug Ellis has insisted that Villa's 'sell to buy' policy will not in the way of the club's transfer plans this summer. Ellis had previously said that some big names might have to go before manager David O'Leary could spend.
But the chairman last night suggested that he could be "flexible" - although he maintains O'Leary will have to balance the books at some point.
"The manager knows exactly what he can and cannot do," said Ellis, who had a two-hour meeting with O'Leary on Friday.
"There is a football grapevine and I learned so much from a Premiership chairmen's meeting this week as to what they are doing.
"I know what might be happening at other clubs which means that when you talk about sell-to-buy, it's not as black and white as it sounds.
"We have to be flexible in this depending on circumstances.
"The manager knows exactly what the situation is. In theory it is sell-to-buy. But that doesn't mean to say that we cannot make the odd move.
"An overhaul of the squad is probably the right word, but you won't hear the manager say that the squad is too small.
"I am a realist and I expect to be in the top 10 next season, and we will budget again for that.
"But I'd love to be in the top six so that we can qualify for Europe again. We have given the manager the opportunity to continue to try to achieve that.
"He's guaranteed to me that last season was a one-off. And I know that any successful football club has to have a relationship between manager and chairman with no inhibitions either way.
"It has to be blunt sometimes, and believe me I can be blunt. But I have issued no ultimatum to the manager. I've spoken about youngsters, but we cannot win 'big time' without some old heads."
Ellis has also called for Villa to stop worrying about potential takeover bids - and start concentrating on getting the team back into the top half of the Premiership. The Villa chairman still wants to sell the club, for the right price to the right people.
But he is becoming increasingly concerned that speculation over the sale of Villa is overshadowing progress on the field. Last season saw Villa's worst ever Premiership finish and Ellis is now concentrating his efforts on making sure the team perform well again after last term's "one-off".
Ellis is also making it clear that the cuts being made at Villa Park have nothing to do with a possible buyout.
The Villa head realises that a sell-off would take some time to complete and that his club need to be in contention for the massive TV deal on the table in 2007 for Premiership teams. But with Villa possibly heading for another loss when the annual figures are released in July, Ellis realises he has to remain prudent and says that fans have to be realistic.
The chairman is keen to point out that, rather than concentrating on selling up at Villa, his first priority is to make sure the team perform once more and attract fed-up fans back to the club.
Villa have been the subject of takeover talk since September when the Comer Brothers' interest first emerged and Ellis accepts that the team should not suffer as a result.
"Everyone knows what the situation is and I am confident that we will find a buyer," said Ellis.
"But maybe the time is now right to stop talking about takeovers - it would be wise not to keep speculating.
"Now is the time to focus on the team for next season. That is our priority and it is full steam ahead.
"We should be thinking about the club. Let's get on with it and make sure we have a hell of a different season. And it will be. Our finish this season was disastrous."
One name that Ellis is unlikely to fund again is Eirik Bakke who was on loan at Villa last season but sent back to Leeds in the January transfer window.
"He can't even get into the Leeds side on a regular basis - that's my answer to that," said the chairman.

you are priceless...
our stadium is one of the best stadiums in the country, let alone the midlands...
only downside to villa park is the graffiti on the witton lane stand....
and as the main points of having a football stadium is to host football matches, the size of it, is hugely important...
thats why we get the fa cup semis, and internationals and the ricoh arena doesnt...
although the fact that you are a chelsea fan from coventry, pretty much explains your credentials when it comes to football...
and the comer brothers takeover is still at a "bid" stage...
they have offered, they are still talking and nothing has happened...
although the fact that it has been at "bid" stage with the stock exchange for months and months now, seems to imply that it has failed..
the sticking point, is the fact that the clubs shares have been valued by the stock market at around 3.97, ellis overall value of 64million is way over the odds...
he wont budge and is demanding that this is cheap, when everyone with half a brain can simply look at the stock market valuation, which includes all of our assetts, and the takeover doesnt move on any further....
ellis doesnt want it to completely collapse though, as while its at this stage, awkward questions can be dodged due to stock market regulations...
so in all but confirmation, the takeover, as i predicted, has collapsed...
are you now going to give me more bad rep and tell me to "go burn like my club" again now, mr coventry chelsea fan?

Why don't you make up your mind about who you support ?
You can't have a season ticket at Coventry and claim to be a Chelsea gloryhunter !
