Stevie G is the best midfielder in the country, prob the best CM in the world. He's a far better player than Lamps, and more of a goal threat. He's constantly forced to play the defensive role, while Lamps is wandering around the field trying to play the hero(Euro 2004 springs to mind). Lamps isn't worthy of an England place imo. Gerrard and Carrick would be my choice, unless Svens develops balls and drops Beckham and plays Stevie on the right. Then Carrick and Parker would be the pairing.

Oh, and O'Leary has to go!

Been saying for years that he's a poor manager, seems people are starting to realise that now.

have 2disagree with rule
carrick is lightw8 low energy and gives the ball away 2mucg - I'd rather ledley king in midfield than him

I think your right JD...Carrick is fine if he is given absolute freedom, but he ain't no Alonso.

If Gerrard was on the right I would still have Lampard in central midfield....but right now I wouldn't want Lampard playing the more attacking role instead of Gerrard.

I do think Barton deserves at least a place in the squad though.

You could say the same for Parker...at Chelsea, in the few games he did play, he gave away stupid freekicks for rash tackles in dangerous areas all the time.

He is still doing it for Newcastle, but because Newcastle are so desperate his foibles are easily overshadowed by his best aspects.

A better player than Barton nonetheless.

Hayden Mullins (not ready yet) is someone else who has impressed me....keeps it simple, wins the ball well, but has quality when necessary. Reo-Coker at his best is more impressive, but I reckon Mullins has had the better season.

any chance you could discuss england, arsenal, or the price of cotton, in another thread please?!?

this has naff all to do with the game, apart from dragging up the thread, so if it hasnt got anything to do with this game, then dont post in here.....

jd, if you want to suddenly turn up now that you are doing better than you were, and wank over beating a shit side like the villa, then go start up a thread in the arseholenal forum about how fecking great you are.....

this forum is for aston villa news and information..
