Now Bouma has sustained a hamstring injury and will definitely miss tomorrow's home clash with Wigan.

David O'Leary told www.avfc.co.uk: "He picked up the injury in the last few minutes of a training session yesterday and it's clear this morning that he's facing a spell on the sidelines.

"It's a blow for us and for the lad. He looked a lot more like the player I know we've signed in the derby win and he was looking to build on that.

"We don't know how long he'll be out for yet, but it's not one you can rush back from."

for fukks sake....

Mark Delaney will make his first start of the season tomorrow night, after Aaron Hughes was ruled out with a recurrence of his hernia problem.

Hughes suffered discomfort during Saturday's 2-0 defeat against Wigan - his first game back after surgery.

That opens the way for Welsh international Delaney, who is now fully recovered from summer knee surgery.

David O'Leary told www.avfc.co.uk: "Aaron wasn't quite right during and after Saturday's game, so he's going to sit out the Burnley game.

"As a precaution we're sending him to see a specialist in the next couple of days, just to make sure there's no serious problem.

1 back. 1 out....

*sigh...*

"Mark will come into the side and fortunately he's now fully recovered from the knee problem."

if i remember rightly, barcelona had a similar problem a couple of seasons back and they were getting lots of long term 'impact' injuries on joints...

i think it was motta missing for over 6 months was the straw that broke the camels back...

they relaid the turf and it hasnt been mentioned since...

as villa havent relaid ours for over 10 years, its naive to think it wont affect the players...

its not the cause for all of our injuries, as some dont heal because we rush the players back through necessity, but it isnt going to help playing on the pitch week in week out....

if players had recupperration time and the pitch was returfed, i predict we would at least half our injuries....
