Good player, worth far more than £8m. If Bayern use the money we gave them for Hargreaves to go and buy IMO one of Arsenal's best players, I'd be rather happy about it.

Gunners 'offered' Eto'o bait
Quote:
Barcelona have offered Samuel Eto'o to Arsenal as a makeweight for Thierry Henry, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish daily Marca claims Barca are ready to part with the Cameroonian striker plus €25million (£17million) in order to bring Henry to Camp Nou.
The report says negotiations between Barca sport director Txiki Beguiristain and his Arsenal counterparts are already well advanced.
It also says the deal has met with approval from Arsene Wenger and the two players.
Eto'o's future has been the subject of speculation for some time and he has expressed a liking for the English game.
Henry has continued to be linked with Barca following Arsenal's disappointing season, even though he signed a long-term deal with The Gunners last summer.
Wenger guaranteed that his talismanic captain would not be sold earlier this month, while Henry has assured fans previously that his future remains in London.
Barcelona have yet to confirm whether there is any substance in the report, while Eto'o is currently away on international duty with Cameroon and has not commented.

If this story is true, which I really doubt, it just makes Barcelona look like complete fools. I'd rather have Eto'o, he's tried & tested in their system, & he's about 4 years younger than Henry. Plus Eto'o had a better season, even if he was injured for a long time as well.
It would make more sense for Barca to sell Eto'o (they'd get at least £25M for him) & then put that towards signing Henry.

Yeah, I'm hoping we don't get rid of Henry, but if he wanted to leave a deal like this would be great, since Eto'o is one of the best strikers in the world and younger than Henry. Although it's from Marca so it's probably bullshit...

Fed-up Henry casts doubt over his Arsenal future
Quote:
Fed-up Henry casts doubt over his Arsenal future
Dominic Fifield
Thursday May 31, 2007
The Guardian
Thierry Henry has cast doubt on his future at Arsenal by leaving open the possibility of a transfer this summer. Two months after saying that he intended to finish his career at the club, the striker went no further yesterday than saying: "For now I'm an Arsenal player."
Henry was responding to a question, during a promotional tour in Beijing, about suggestions he may leave for Barcelona, who hope to buy him. He noted separately that there has been "a lot of stuff happening at the club recently", which includes the departure of David Dein, the former vice-chairman, and made clear his disillusionment with Arsenal's Premiership placings over the past two years.
"This year it was pretty difficult to see once again that we finished so far behind the top teams," he said, adding: "I'm actually getting annoyed that we're finishing at the end of the top four."
He believes the squad lacks experience: "Sometimes having a lot of youngsters in your squad you cannot have the same spirit or the same result that you had the year we stayed unbeaten [in the league]. We had guys who had been in the game for 15 or 10 years and who had won a lot."

Football: Henry casts doubts over Arsenal future | News | Guardian Unlimited Football
He's been saying it for a couple of years now and it looks like he is fed up, these comments are pretty explicit of that... Henry's Arsenal future I think will be sorted in a months time. If Arsenal make indications they're trying to sign experienced players he might stay, otherwise he could well leave...
[before people dismiss this they should probably read his quotes]

Yeah, last year when all the rumors about him going to Barca were circulating I didn't think that much of it, thought he was going to stay, but this year I'm not sure. I think we need to make some big name signings this summer or he might go.

To be honest I dont know what to believe or what to think during this time of the season. I dont want to see him go because he is Mr. Arsenal but if he does I will still support the club and I think we will still be top shelf!

Barcelona to offer Arsenal's Henry £120,000-a-week contract
tribalfooball.com - June 02, 2007
Barcelona are preparing a formal approach to Arsenal for captain Thierry Henry.
The Mail on Sunday says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is on holiday so no decisions on the future of Henry, 29, will be made imminently, but it is believed that he would consider a bid of around £20 million.
A three-year deal worth £120,000 a week would be on offer for a player who is contracted at Arsenal until 2011.

Barca leave door open for Henry
Barcelona say they still want to sign Thierry Henry - but he must first show he is willing to leave Arsenal.
Henry, 29, has long been linked with the Nou Camp club and Barca look set to make another approach for the striker.
Sporting director Txiki Beguiristain told the Sunday Express: "If he has the desire to play here, then we can see if it's going to happen or not."
Last week, Henry played down reports he was set to quit the Gunners after being linked with Barca and Inter Milan.
He said: "Since I started playing football there has been speculation about me going to a lot of clubs and that will never, ever stop.
"But as I said, for now I'm an Arsenal player, so there is nothing to add to it."
Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has previously said he would welcome Henry's arrival at the club and now Lilian Thuram has echoed those thoughts.
"It would be great if Thierry came to Barcelona," Henry's former French international team-mate Thuram told the News of the World.
"It would very good for the club because he's a great player - and for him it would be positive too because this club is ideal for him."
Henry signed a new four-year contract last summer but has since been plagued by injuries and has grown frustrated at Arsenal's inability to mount a title challenge.
"It was pretty difficult to see once again that we finished so far away from the top teams," added Henry, whose side finished fourth in the Premiership in the 2006-2007 campaign.
"It's always the same top four and I'm actually getting annoyed that we're finishing at the end of the top four now."
