Polish international goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has signed for Arsenal from Legia Warsaw on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

Fabianski (22) won the Polish League Championship with Legia Warsaw in 2005/06 and his consistent performances earned him a place in the Poland squad for the FIFA World Cup in Germany last summer.

As well as making four appearances for the full Poland national team, Fabianski was also a regular at Under-21 international for his home country and has notably been voted the Best Goalkeeper in the ‘Ekstraklasa’ (the Polish Premiership) for both 2006 and 2007.

Manager Arsène Wenger said: “We are pleased to have signed Lukasz Fabianski. He is a very good young goalkeeper who will provide good support to our squad. He has performed consistently well for Legia Warsaw in recent seasons and was rightfully rewarded with a place in the Polish World Cup squad. Lukasz will be a big asset our squad and we are looking forward to him joining us for pre-season.”

After completing his move to the Gunners, Fabianski said: “I am delighted to be joining Arsenal. They are a great Club with many world class players and I am really looking forward to meeting my new team mates. Arsenal is one of the biggest and best clubs in Europe and I hope that I can help the team win trophies in the future.”

Lukasz will join up with his new team mates when the squad report back for pre-season training in early July.

Inter Milan have offered troubled striker Adriano in a swap for Arsenal captain Thierry Henry.

Controcampo says negotiations between the clubs have been ongoing for some weeks and will now be stepped up after the Italian season ended yesterday.

Inter president Massimo Moratti hinted at the capture of Henry last night: "I can say we will be making a major signing this summer which will excite the Inter fans."

Moratti is a big fan of Henry, while the Frenchman has this season spoken of his great respect for the Inter supremo.

This could be an interesting swap deal.

Henry evades Barca talk

Thierry Henry failed to quell speculation about his future during a trip to China.

Barcelona are being persistently linked with a move for Arsenal's captain and sporting director Txiki Beguiristain said recently that Henry was still in their thoughts.

Gunners chief Arsene Wenger said earlier in May that there was no way Henry would be sold, but this does not appear to have deterred Barca and the French star refused to put an end to the transfer talk on a trip to Asia.

"Since I started playing football there has been speculation about me going to a lot of clubs," said Henry. "So that will never, ever stop.

"But, as I said, for now I'm an Arsenal player. So there is nothing to add to it.

"For now I am an Arsenal player, so that's all I can tell you."

You've signed Da Silva an Sagna and are on the heels of Gouffran, so that's two strikers and a midfielder/fullback. As well as that, Fabianski will provide backup to Lehman with Nordveit adding numbers at the back. I still think what you should be looking for is a right winger - someone quick and creative. Shaun Wright-Phillips has been linked, but whether Chelsea would sell to rivals is a bit of a block. I think a coupke of Arsene-esque purchases are pretty possible, should he decide to strengthen this area. I'd say either Tranquilla Barnetta, of Leverkusen, or Gabriel Obertan of Bordeux. One Swiss, one French. You were linked with Obertan a little while ago, but Barnetta is just someone I think would be good for you. Thoughts?

Arsenal starlet to join Osasuna

Arsenal youngster Carlos Vela has agreed to join Osasuna on loan next season.

The Mexican teenager is yet to play for The Gunners as the Under 20 international does not quality for a work permit.

He has already been out on loan at Celta Vigo and Salamanca, and was wanted this summer by Levante and Almeria.

But Vela's agent Eduardo Hernandez has revealed the forward has agreed to join Osasuna for a year, with the option of a second season.

"It is a fact, the player goes away to Osasuna," Hernandez told Marca.

"The negotiation has been closed for a loan for a year and with the possibility that it is extended to two, but an option to buy has not been contemplated.

"For Arsenal, it interests them that he plays regularly and he will do that in Osasuna.

"Vela is very happy, it is incredible what he has done. At 17 years, he played in the second division and at 18 in the first with Osasuna."

Arsenal snap up Argie starlet Di Maria

Arsenal have snapped up Rosario Central teenage striker Angel Di Maria.

Arsenal are paying around £2m for Di Maria, who is known as "the Little Angel" and who has scored two goals in four games as Argentina have reached the last four of the tournament U20 World Championships in Canada.
