Default Lionel Messi Wins The Bravo Trophy For U-21 Players

Quote:
Lionel Messi Wins The Bravo Trophy For U-21 Players

Lionel Messi has won what is known as the Golden Ball for U-21 players in Europe: the Bravo Award...

Guerin Sportivo have awarded the Bravo Trophy for the best U-21 player in Europe to Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

The cup, awarded annually based on performances in the previous season, went to the young Argentine for his showings in the 2006-07 campaign.

Messi becomes the first player from Argentina to lift the award, and the third from Barcelona after Josep Guardiola won it 15 years ago and Ronaldo was given it in 1997.

Default Totti: Messi Deserves Golden Ball, Not Kaka

Quote:
Totti: Messi Deserves Golden Ball, Not Kaka

Roma captain Francesco Totti believes that Lionel Messi, and not Kaka, is the worthy winner of this year’s Ballon d’Or.

The prestigious European Footballer of the Year prize will be handed out in a lavish ceremony in Paris this Sunday, and Milan midfielder Kaka is the overwhelming favourite.

According to reports in the Italian press Kaka has beaten Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo into first place, with Argentine prodigy Leo Messi in third position.

Francesco Totti, who many believe should be in contention for the award himself after finishing as last season’s European Golden Boot winner, is of the opinion that Messi should win.

“He’s just 20, but he seems like a 30-year-old on the pitch,” Er Pupone stressed.

“He has been crucial for Argentina, in Europe and in Spain. I would have given it to him because of his talent coupled with his age.”

Totti is currently sidelined with injury after picking up an ankle problem in the Champions League clash with Sporting Lisbon on October 23.

The 31-year-old is likely to miss this weekend’s match with Udinese, however he could be fit enough to return against Livorno next Wednesday.

Goal.com - Barcelona - Totti: Messi Deserves Golden Ball, Not Kaka

this sunday we will know which place messi get - 1st, 2ndor 3rd. in the beginning of the season messi was 1 or 2 for sure, but now it seems he is 3 after cristiano ronaldo is on great form and reports say kaka is the winner... I hope all the voters are as smart as totti

If messi leads his team to a CL title, he will put his name out there as a superstar!

Right now, I say messi is the best player for his team. Also, ronaldo is an important figure for his team, he scored the winner to lead his team to the next round.

Kaka, well he's always been good but he's not the most dependable for Milan.

I agree.
but isn't it harder to be the best in the team when you have ronaldinho, henry, deco & eto'o in your team than if you have rooney, tevez, scholes & giggs or pirlo, gilardino, seedorf & ronaldo in your team?
and this season, messi is much more important to the team than kaka/ronaldo are! barcelona DON'T win if messi doesn't score(a fact)! and he is involved in most of the other goals aswell.

messi is just 20. he has enough time to win this trophy in the future

I disagree! messi has many role players he can work with like deco, henry, ronaldinho etc....Ronaldo is by himself.

If you watch Man U games ronaldo is their leader, their sparkplug, without him they would be another average team. Still tevez, anderson & nani are still not acclimated but they are improving.

I don't watch enough of Man U to talk about ronaldo but the fact is: when messi scores barcelona win and when messi doesn't score barcelona don't win.
messi is leasing the team when deco & eto'o are injured, ronaldinho is on worst form, and henry didn't get used to spain yet and looks very bad... with all that barcelona are winning, and it is because of one man. which means that messi is by far the best player in a team that has ronaldinho & henry.
if I'm not wrong, ronaldo was injured in the beginning of this season and manchester still won their matches. so you can't say that manchester can't play well without ronaldo, while we've seen how poor barcelona play without messi (when he started on the bench vs. almeria at home and barcelona almost lost to the poor team and then messi entered for 30 minutes and we won).

but in the last 2 weeks ronaldo is on much better form.

@ frank, I don't get how this is connected mate... but I didn't know that they don't like the portuguese, interesting.

early Manchester United lost a lot pts when C Ronaldo was out, and the same thing happen in last game with Bolton, I watch the Spanish league and you can't give to Messi who by the way only playing regular since the begin of September, by the way last season Barcelona gave the championship away when C Ronaldo and Ronny basically carried the whole team on the way to the Premier championship

actually, Barcelona is the most stacked team in the world.. you are right its hard for messi to be the best on the team but he gets help from many of the best players in the world.

personally, I think BArcelona has too many stars. once u can bench ronaldinho or henry then theres a problem Id like to see how good teams like Barca and Man united would be if there was a salary cap

Dont worry, Messi will win a Golden ball within the next 3 seasons.

if you watched barcelona-zaragoza, barcelona-sevilla, barcelona-almeria, levante-barcelona & (possibly) barcelona-atletico madrid ... then thats what I mean.
in mid-september -> mid-november, messi was on great form and undoubtedly the best. (ronaldo was injured/suspended in most of this period and kaka was crap). in the last matches messi is not playing great and it is because ronaldinho is back and ronaldino limits messi somewhy.

plus, in the last matches with the NT, messi was brilliant including 2 wonder goals and a crackiong assist to riquelme and being the MOM after riquelme.

messi is the pichichi atm!(topgoalscorer of la liga) in a team that has ronaldinho & henry
