I didn't expect him to play in those matches(scottland and asia), he's playing non-stop since he recovered from his injury(february). and the preseason get interesting after those matches, barca are playing against inter and bayern munich... I hope he plays there.

messi is currently in china now for pepsi promotion.
after that he'll enjoy some days off.
he will join the team only in the 5th of august in the far east for preseason matches.
messi talked about how bad he wants to play again for barca and how excited he is for all the new signings, especially milto, his argentinian freind.
messi said also that he thinks all of barca's 4 aces should play at the same time, he said it would be spectacular for the fans, but its rijkaard who will decide.

Also Kaka said a few weeks back that he thinks the final 3 for the World Player of the Year will be Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and of course himself Mr.Kaka.
He said that Messi will be his biggest challenger.

yea, I heard that.. (this thread didn't exist then.. lol)
thats very interesting to hear, I never thought kaka appreciates messi before, actually kaka seems to me like someone who doen't know what's going on in the world..
I don't beleive messi will win that award this year, he didn't do enough.
but I'm very sure he'll get that award so many times in the future that it will get boring

Well Messi has a case for being a candidate for it as the award is judged on 2007. Messi came back from injury mid February and scored 11 league goals from March 11th to the end of the season which is a fantastic finish for a winger.
In the 11 league goals there was the hatrick against Real Madrid, his double against Atletico (run + lob), the Depor goal, the Recre run, his double vs Espanyol which could of won the title and his double vs Nastic, most of which were fantastic goals. There's also the double vs Getafe in the Copa del Rey with the Messidona goal and he had a very good Copa America in which we'll remember the goal vs Mexico.
They both still have until December to impress and if Messi has a fantastic start to the season then he could snatch the award from Kaka.

I didn't know its just for the 2007 year. I thought its for all the season and just that season.
anyway, I think there is no way they don't give the man that won the CL and beat manchester united by his own this award. messi was excellent but he didn't win anything wich is also a critirion for the best player of the year..

Maradona Talks Of Messi, Eyes Next El Clasico
Speaking to Argentinian newspaper "Olé", troubled legend Diego Maradona looked back on the Copa America final, before discussing his dream fixture for the new season...
Diego Maradona reflected with sadness on his country's Copa America defeat at the hands of Brazil - and looked back on Barcelona starlet Leo Messi's impact.
"For Leo, it was tough," he said. "Whenever he touched the ball, one felt that something important was about to happen.
"But, sadly, chances eluded us. Brazil marked Messi extremely well. Whenever he took possession, there were three or four Brazilians just waiting to pounce.
"And the truth is, we didn't have an answer for that."
However, he retains faith in the player who many call his successor. "Messi is a phenomenon. He has shown this, and he's going to continue showing it. He is without limits," Maradona gushed.
Messi, of course, plies his trade for FC Barcelona - and it is Barca that Maradona focuses on as the new season warms up. More precisely, the 91-times capped Argentine is awaiting the Barca-Madrid derby.
After commenting on his respect for Gago and Saviola at Real Madrid, he admitted to having a "divided heart" between the Merengues, and the Barcelona side with whom he spent two seasons in the Eighties.
He said, "This year, more than ever, I'd love to see Madrid-Barcelona and Barcelona-Madrid. That derby is really a sight to see.
"I said to Gago that Madrid have a great team this year. But, of course, Barcelona have reinforced well, with Henry."

Messi Topping Moratti's Wish List

Messi Topping Moratti's Wish List
The President of Inter admitted to 'Ole' that the Argentinean player is the only one he would be willing to pay a crazy amount of money for in order to sign him.
It is no secret that President Massimo Moratti is a big admirer of Lionel Messi, and the recent comments he made to 'Ole' continue to prove this.
"He's my dream, the player which I would mostly like to bring to Inter because he's the player I enjoy most watching in the world," Moratti admitted.
Many in Italy believe that these are clear signals by the Nerazzurri's President that he wants to sign the 20-year-old star from Barcelona, even though he admitted that for the time being it will only remain a dream.
"For what I know, Barcelona is not selling him. That's why it will continue to be a dream," declared the Inter President.
However, Moratti is planning a long-term project in order to lure Messi to Inter, even though he could have been wearing the Nerazzurri's shirt already three years ago.
"I had the possibility of signing him, but I would have had to act in an incorrect way so I let it go. If Barcelona decide to sell him, I will be the first one in line. For him I'm ready to do a madness."

Messi And Milito To Join Up This Week
Messi And Milito To Join Up This Week
FC Barcelona's Copa América stars will undergo the first stage of pre-season training at Camp Nou rather than join up with the rest of the squad in Asia.
While Frank Rijkaard's squad jet out to begin their tour of the Far East, Lionel Messi, Gaby Milito and Rafa Márquez will begin their preparations in Catalunya.
The trio appeared in the Copa América in Venezuela at the end of the season and were given extra holiday time in order to recover before the new campaign begins.
Originally, the players were due to fly out to China to meet up with the squad, but that has changed as the club would prefer them to undergo medical checks in Barcelona.
After returning to the Ciutat Contal on Sunday evening, Messi, Milito and Márquez will train on the pitch in front of La Masia on Monday.
As well as being put through their paces, the trio will also be put through the same series of medical exams that the rest of the squad had ten days ago.
Barça have already played two pre-season friendlies during a mini-tour of Scotland as they beat Dundee United and Hearts.
