Although I'm a Yank I do follow South American futbol. Argentina has a very strong U-20 team, and are likely to see a lot of these guys in the WC qualifiers if you haven't already and on the first team for the final draw in Germany. These are some of the names in no particular order but not all are under 20. Aimar(Valencia), Tevez(Corinthians in Brasil), Cavenaghi(Spartak Moscow?), my favorite Saviola(Monaco), Sorin(Europe somewhere), Killy Gonzales(Europe somewhere),D'Allessandro(Wolfsburg)although to me he didn't seem to perform well with the seleccion, but I heard is doing quite well in the Bundesliga. Samuel(Real Madrid), Heinze(Manchester United), Colochini(don't know where know but he and Heinze impressed me a lot on defense. Also Mascherano(River Plated) on defense, but I think he will be in Europe if he isn't already.Figueroa and Delgado(Cruz Azul of Mexico). Of course Zanetti a veteran in back who plays in Italy. The new coach is a guy named Peckerman who was the coach of the U16 through U20 teams I believe and all of the youngers are his boys and he won practically everything with them or at least placed second to Brasil. Then you have other veterans like Batistuta and Crespo, but I don't know if they will be first teamers in 2006. Even though I am a Colombian team fan I hope this helps a bit, take care.

I serioiusly doubt this will happen in the US anytime during my lifetime, sad really because it is one of the few things that unite most of the world.

That happen when I went to Highschool in Canada instead it was a prodominately Italian school we had to watch the Italy Games and I was forced to see it

But yeah it is UNITY that brings us together now only if IRAQ and IRAN can play futebol together then we can see the light of day and Saddamcould be the keeper Ill be glad to shoot some balls right into his face

But it does happen in Canada and I made up my mind Im Inviting all of my friends over June 11 at the Convention centre and we are watching the Portugal games because its unity and Passion thats all that matters.

jz is the best rb in the world and he hasnt been picked

i always respected pekerman decision and when he didnt call all the best players for friendlies and tournaments but this is a joke

what he had done makes me sick.it was bad enough he took the captains armband of him but to leave him out of the squad is outrageous

this is pekerman for you he sticks with the players that he taught in the youth squad but leaves the old guys out

explains why sorin is captain

havent you guys relised that most of the inter players have been left

all the old guys were a problem to the side
however I believe this happend. Perkermanwas thinking about wether the old Argie's at Inter like Veron, Zanetti and Smauel will do his squad any good come Germany. Team work wins WC's. The Iner Argie's are like a gang, similar to the problems Holland had with their senior Dutch players from Ajax. Very talented, but never 'together'. Means never winning the big one.

Very sad...I find it hard to believe that you will find any Argie better than Samuel, or have his experience.

Mind boggling.

We have remarked on this in a couple of other threads...but it's still probably worth having a thread of its own.

Keep this one, I think there could be a huge "fire" in Argentina if they fail yet again.

Just my two cents - sorin is a twat. Not a brilliant player but one who dives and cheats his way through football.

As for the squad choice, very surprising and IMO more to to with personal issues than footballing ones.
