Former Napoli legend Diego Armando Maradona has been released from the Avril psychiatric hospital in Buenos Aires where he was admitted 10 days ago.
The World Cup winner has been in and out of hospital over the past few weeks to treat the physical and mental issues that have hit him due to alcohol and food addiction.
“I am alive and I want to continue living for my two daughters. I am going to continue fighting until the end,” said Maradona on the Argentine station Canal 13.
“I was ill, I recognise that. There were some very hard days and I do not recommend it to anybody. I made a mistake and paid a very high price,” explained El Pibe de Oro.
“Today I am calm, doing the diet and taking care of myself. Now I want to rest in order to be better physically. I am not a drunk.
“My daughters tell me 'never again dad' and I want to be an example for them,” concluded Maradona.
The player’s personal doctor was relieved with his patient’s dismissal, although he will have to continue attending Avril at least three times a week.
“This is a very positive step in his treatment and I see he is very enthusiastic,” said Alfredo Cahe. “He will no longer need to stay at the hospital overnight.”
Maradona, who battled with cocaine addiction in the past, was already hospitalised in 2000 with a severe heart problem and spent 10 days in intensive care with heart and breathing problems four years later.

Maradona: I want to be argentina's coach
Diego Armando Maradona said publicly today thgat he wants to be the coach of the argentinian NT. and that he feels that "this is the right time for me to do it".
the former world champion said in an argie TV show that his doal is to coach the NT.
diego said that he knows that his bad relations with the head of the AFA can make his plans harder to achieve. julio garnoda(the 'prez' of the argentinian football federation), used to call maradona an addict..
"I realy want to be the coach"
"I was close to being the coach in the 2006WC in germany, but in the end it didn't happen. I know its the right time for me, and I don't want to miss the opportunity"
"I don't want to replace anyone(talking about 'el coco' basile). we have to let the coach finish his job"
"We must have the magic again and to play for the fame. this can't be bought with money"

I think the leap from where he is now, to being a coach is too much. He should start with a small side, and work his way up.

^if maradona becomes a coach, he won't be a regular coach with tactics and formations etc... I beleive he'll play the most simple way, with messi in the center of everything and get all the players hungry and passionate, you know. so I for me, doesn't mind if he managed a team before or not. but thats just me.
maradona must have 3-4 months without any medical problems so we can be sure he can do that and then he can become the coach.

I think it woould take much longer than 3-4 months without incident. He needs to take it slow, make sure that he is fine for at least one year, then work on getting a coaching license, and start coaching in a small team.

I don't think its a good idea, and you really don't respect the coaching profession.
When you play a Brazil, Italy, France or Germany, it will get down to tactics and right substitutions. I don't think he is ready for that leap.

I thought you guys might be interested in this movie. It's about three friends who plan a trip to meet their idol, Diego Maradona!

The Hands Of The Gods is a brilliant documentary that follows five British freestyle footabllers as they busk their way across the Americas using only their freestyle skills to earn money in the hope of getting to Buenos Aires to meet their hero Diego Maradona.

Manchester United are rolling out the welcome mat for Argentine legend Diego Maradona.
The Mirror says Maradona will be Manchester United's guest of honour for their Premier League showdown with Wigan next month - after making a special request to see Carlos Tevez.
World Cup legend Maradona is close friends with Tevez and will fly over to take his seat in the directors' box to see his fellow Argentine play at Old Trafford on October 6.
Maradona, 47, is taking part in the charity rematch of the 1986 World Cup "Hand of God" clash between England and Argentina at Villa Park on October 14.
