Inter Pounce For River Plate Star
Inter have bolstered their defence ahead of next season with the acquisition of Nelson Rivas from River Plate.
The 24-year-old, who is nicknamed ‘Tyson’ due to his physical resemblance to the legendary boxer, will become the second Colombian in Inter’s ranks, joining a rearguard that is already expertly patrolled by Ivan Cordoba.
He may have to make due with spending his first season on the Nerazzurri’s books on loan though. The San Siro side are trying to engineer a sensational return of Juan Sebastian Veron, which would lay claim to the last remaining non-EU spot on the roster.

Nelson Rivas is an inter player. confirmed today(I can't find the article yet).
former river plate's colombian defender will join his colombian freind -I.cordoba- in inter.
Rivas is the 2nd player to leave river plate this summer.. the first was the goalkeeper G.lux who joined real mallorca from la liga.

Just saw this on GolTV News too, good for Rivas. And from the sound of things, it seems that they mean to actually play him rather than loan him.

The only team who were interested in Carrizo was Lazio. The rest like Zaragoza, Man City, West Ham, Bayern and Man Utd are all bs IMO. It was Lazio who were constantly negotiating with River over the weeks.
We paid 7.5m euros for him, that shows how much he wanted him. He was Peruzzi's chosen successor ahead of Amelia.
I am very happy to say that Carrizo will join Lazio on the 24th of July to have his medical and officially be Peruzzi's replacement.

Carrizo Leaves River For Lazio
Argentine giants River Plate have announced the sale of goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo to Lazio of Italy for more than seven million euros.
Carrizo (23) has been one of the best goalkeepers to emerge from the Argentine club over the last few years and although the club’s directors wanted to retain him for another season they could not refuse the large sum of money offered by Lazio.
The goalkeeper recently told River president Jose Maria Aguilar that he was interested in a move to Italy, because players in his position normally don’t get these kind of opportunities.
According to reports Carrizo will sign a five year deal with the Rome based club, and will begin preseason work with his new teammates at the end of the week.
Lazio have also shown an interest in talented River striker Marco Ruben, and are likely to make an offer for the player some time next week.

river get 7.5 million euros for this goalkeeper.. the second goalkeeper they sell this summer, first they sold G.lux to mallorca.
river stay with only 2 known goalkeepers, non of them is good enough. I think they shuold buy a keeper. they are offering newells old boys almost the same amount of money they got from selling carrizo for their ternational paraguayan goalkeeper - villar:
Quote:
River Chase Newell's Goalkeeper Villar
Argentine giants River Plate are after Paraguayan international goalkeeper Justo Villar from Newell’s Old Boys.
River’s directors have affirmed that the experienced goalkeeper is their main priority for next season, and are likely to offer Newell’s a good deal for the player.
Villar (30) was Paraguay’s number one goalkeeper in the Copa America in Venezuela, and also in last year’s World Cup in Germany, but got injured in both competitions.
River, who are in a rebuilding process, have confirmed the sale of goalkeeper Pablo Carizzo to Italy's Lazio for a little more than 7 million euros, and intend to use some of that cash to bring in Villar.
Villar has been at Newell’s of Rosario since 2004, winning the Apertura championship with the club in that year. In that same tournament he was voted the most valuable player in his position.
The Paraguayan international has also attracted interest from River's cross town rivals Boca Juniors in the last couple of years.

villar is better than carrizo imo. but carizzo is good, good signing for lazio. is he going to be the 2st goalkeeper of lazio?

Tecla ("the key") - Ernesto farias:
farias was one of the best strikers at argentina when he was younger, playing at estudiantes, he even topscored the apertura at 2003 when he was 23 years old. he played one year at palermo(italy) 2004/2005, but he found no success and came back to argentina to play for river, in river he was good but not as good as he was in estudiantes, 2 years ago he scored 18 goals (!) though. he was transfered 2 weeks ago to mexican 'deportivo toluca'. and now he signed for porto, i guess.
he played only once for the argentinian NT, when they lost 1-0 to paraguay(or chile ^^).
good scoring ability, excellent positioning. he was compared to gerd muller many times.
you can find his biography here: CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE - Sitio Oficial -
(you may like to post that in porto's forum)

Thanks.. Well we've had success with Argentinians over the past few years, Lucho and Lisandro for example..
I'm not too sure if we needed a new striker, but if he is good, then he is welcome

you do have many strikers.. but I think farias is better than most of them, if portugal is good for him, and it very likely to be true, because as you say, argentinians succeed at porto.

We have:
Adriano (brazilian, 11 goals in 18 games last season), Postiga (portuguese, most likely to be sold), Renteria (colombian, was abolutely pathetic last season), Edgar (brazilian, some say he is the new Jardel) and now Farias..
However, we only play with 1 striker, so this signing makes even less sense..

thats very strange..
even if you played with 2 strikers it would be more than needed.
maybe they're selling postiga and another one...

Carrizo will be the 1st keeper at Lazio, he is still very young and he has a lot of room to improve. Mainly his handling of corners, but he has proven himself to be a very good keeper, I am full faith in him.

El sueño es Santa Cruz
the dream is Roque Santa Cruz
after the many departures of river's stars, they are looking for serious inforcement in the attack.
in the team they think paraguay's international - santa cruz - is perfect for them to replace farias.
the bayern munich striker is rivers biggest wish. but it is clear that its a bit impossible.
I think they can get the money... but they should wait one year or untill his contract expires. I realy want to see santa cruz in argentina.

Ni los dirigentes sabían que llegaba Sixto Peralta
river with a first signing!
Sixto Peralta
a very surprising signing, to everyone. no one expected river to get this player who was very close to signing for newells old boys.
peralt signed for one year. he is 28 years old. a midfielder. can score.
he joined on a free transfer from 'tigers' club.
an argentinian. played previously for huracan and racing. he has 167 appeariances in argentina (not the NT. the league) scored 20 goals.
his last year at argentina(before leaving) was bad, he didn't score any goal for racing.
river still need a striker. a center scorer.
