Personally I don't like exact size restrictions, too anal retentive for my taste. So long as your sig doesn't stretch the page, consume my entire screen vertically, or take forever to load, I honestly don't care much. And I'm on dialup.
I'm not even opposed to animated avatars/sigs so long as they are kept to a reasonable file size.
I was once on a forum where there were VERY VERY specific dimensions and file size restrictions for sigs and avatars, and woe be unto he who goes one pixel over the sig restrictions. Pretty annoying. I like the freedom we have now, so long as people don't go way overboard.

I like my signature the way it is...images wont slow the loading of pages down at all...its the animated video stuff...images take up about as much memory as the text does

Ya i agree with that. Im running on high speed, but im using a crap computer at the moment and its still loading everything fine...I dont want to have people get pissed over having to change their sig and avatar to make other people happy...Our sigs and Avatars, are our only form of non-verbal(typing) expression that we have on this site. |

Actually no, images are much bigger files than a block of text of the same dimensions, and they absolutely do slow the loading of the page. If you've got a good connection you won't notice it much, if at all, but if your connection is crap (like mine) then a page of large or high-quality images can take forever to load.
But even so, I don't personally mind slightly large sigs, within reason of course (if I have to scroll in any direction to see the whole thing, it's too big  ). For me it's interesting to see what people choose to put in their sigs/avatars and how they choose to represent themselves on the forum; a kind of self-expression, like you said. |

I disabled all signatures so right now i don't see anything. all i see is ManuelD picture of a girl, so i have to be careful opening here at work lol...Thanks MnauelD jk

Is there a way to turn off sigs then?
I'm not really interested in some piece of shit picture of your favourite footballer on fire and being sucked in to a blackhole, that took you 2 hours to make on photoshop. Because that's what most of these fancy dan ones look like to me.

Its in the usercp, fiddle around in there. I have turned them off, and I don't miss them at all.
