Thunder Sign Freddy 22/04/04
The 26-year old left-footer comes to the Thunder after spending the past six seasons with the El Paso Patriots, formerly of the A-league. While at El Paso, Juarez accumulated nearly 12,000 minutes in 133 games played.
“Freddy is a quick and very skillful defensive midfielder,” said Buzz Lagos, head coach of the Thunder. “With his presence and experience, he will be a large contributor to one of the most dangerous midfields in the A-league.”
The 2000 and 2003 Patriot Defensive Player of the Year is a community leader in his hometown of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Juarez coaches a premier U-17 team called the New Mexico Strikers 4, the same team he grew up representing on the field. His team is the reining New Mexico State Cup Champions and Juarez will return in the off-season to prepare them for next year. Juarez has been coaching the same group of players since they began playing the sport when they were around the age of four.
