Default Scholes plans to leave in two years

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has revealed he plans to spend just two more seasons at Old Trafford.

Scholes, 33, helped United win the Premier League and Champions League last season but Sir Alex Ferguson is gradually grooming younger players like Brazil's Anderson to replace him.

The former England midfielder knows he is approaching the end of his glorious career with Ferguson's side and has already ear-marked a likely departure date.

"How long will I go on? I'd think two years at the most. I have one year left on my contract and hopefully I'll get another one but I suppose it all depends on how you're feeling and how you're playing," Scholes said on Thursday.

"At the moment I just think two years would be about right."

Scholes has never been fond of the spotlight that shines so brightly on United's superstars and he can't wait to step into the shadows.

"I can't say that I can't wait to finish but I am looking forward to finishing with everything that goes with it," he said.

"I suppose people are just very invasive and are always wanting to know what you're going to do.

"The only thing I will definitely miss is the football, not the general life of a footballer."
