Lampard's future at Stamford Bridge has been the subject of widespread speculation for some time with the player yet to sign a new contract.

The 30-year-old has only one year to run on his current contract and talks over a new deal have stalled.

Inter boss Jose Mourinho has never hidden his admiration for Lampard and has spoken of his desire to be reunited with the England international.

Chelsea have already rejected one bid from Inter with the West London side adamant that they will not sell the former West Ham man.

Reports in Italy suggest Inter are lining up a new improved bid for Lampard, but Moratti concedes Chelsea hold all the aces over the player's future.

Patience

"For the acquisition of Lampard we need to have patience. We have the player's approval but we have to respect Chelsea's rights," Moratti told the club's official website.
