Just let the boss take care of you - because he respects you for being a man and treating him with dignity and respect.
And then you have Twinkletoes - had he done this right, he could have come off looking like the true golden child of world soccer. All he had to say was, "I am under contract with Manchester United. While it remains a dream of mine to play for Real Madrid, a club I have supported since I was a boy, I have an obligation to Manchester United, my teammates and the fans who have supported me over the last few years. I am flattered by Real Madrid's interest in me, however let me reiterate that I am under contract and I have a professional obligation to Manchester United. And that is all that I will say on the subject." Had he come out with a statement like that, or even better said nothing at all in public and done what Pique did, it's a pretty safe bet that United would have either sold him this summer or next - and there would have been no bad blood at all.
It's the difference between being a man, and being a brat.

100% agree with the above post....would just like to point out that Ronaldo "tried" to stay silent, but he couldn't bare not being in the media...
