Fiorentina striking star Adrian Mutu is very tempted by a move to Roma, according to fellow Romanian international Cristian Chivu.
The Giallorossi are desperately looking for a striker to add to their arsenal and have been linked with a number of names, including Vincenzo Iaquinta, Antonio Di Natale and Mutu.
While Mutu’s agent insists that it would be impossible to lure the former Chelsea man away from Florence, Chivu believes that he is giving a move to the Eternal City some serious thought,
“He is very tempted by Roma,” Chivu insisted in Il Messaggero.
“He has been asking me about things and he would be a superb signing for a squad that are already very strong contenders.”
Roma are waiting for the outcome of a meeting between Mutu and the Viola to discuss a contract extension.
Fiorentina have indicated that they won’t break their self-imposed salary cap to appease Mutu, but the Gigliati are determined not to lose such a crucial component.
Reports suggest that the capital club have around £15m waiting if Mutu fails to agree a new deal at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
