As an Italian and having insight into my league, offering a 30 year old a five year contract, when he is a key member of your club and goes to war for your club, is nothing really. Sure his play will no doubt slow down, but that is how we are. Look at our clubs, we have some old players...Juve have Del Piero, but that leadership is just not replaceable.

150,000 k for 5 years? I think that's a bit much. These things are like a domino effect: the wages are just going to keep spiralling out of control. I think there has to be a point where the Club clamp down. Lampard can't have it all his way. If Del Piero demanded 150,000k a week, I don't think Juventus would hesitate to reject him. Fortunately for them, Del Piero loves his club more than Lampard loves Chelsea.

Bla, bla. We have a billionaire too. In the end, boards are run to spend less and win at all costs. Chelsea is Inter of a number years ago, or Real Madrid of a few years. Spending will get us out of trouble. We'll buy Sheva, Ballack, Carvalho, Drogba etc......in the end, you have to develop your own players. Bit off topic, but I thought I would respond.

Fair enough. I do agree that Chelsea shouldn't always be looking to buy other people's stars. There should be a balance, and I'd hate to see older players with a bigger name coming in at the expense of a promising youngster.

He has been waiting for ever for a deal, but you know what?? He has apparently had enough, and went to Milan to see his old friend. You certainly can't blame him?

Chelsea have been offering him a deal for the past 2 seasons, and it is Lampard who has been putting off negotiations until now, all the while professing his love of Chelsea blah blah blah.

And likewise, if Chelsea want to keep an unhappy player, then that is their perogative.

Scolari won't allow a player who isn't committed to play. If Lampard wants to leave, I don't think we are going to keep him.

To be honest, I will be really surprised if both clubs don't agree to some type of deal. The Chelsea management has really fuked up things to the point you have driven away a player, and if he does stay, there will no doubt be bad blood. But rest assured, if Frank does put on an Inter kit, he will be worshipped. And if he produces, we will not drive him away.

I don't think the Board have fucked up at all. If the media are to be believed, they've offered Lampard a fairly reasonable contract, one that they have probably been offering for the past 2 seasons as well. Lampard has, up until now, consistently put off negotiations. If he leaves, it will be because he wanted to leave, not because the Board forced him to leave.

It looks like Lampard is trying to engineer a way out of the club. He has put off contract negotiations for 2 seasons, and when he finally is willing to negotiate, he is demanding ridiculous terms that he knows the board will never agree to.
