Just a day after it was reported that the ex-Arsenal forward Julio Baptista is looking for a return to the Premiership with Newcastle United, it seems that Italian giants Roma have put in a bid for the Real Madrid forward.
The Spanish paper Marca said that Baptista is one of the players Real are willing to sell to finance the signing of Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Spanish champions have valued the player at around €15million euros and Roma have put in an initial bid of €12million.
"I am on holiday in Brazil and so don’t know anything about current negotiations," Baptista told Marca.
"My main plan is to stay at Real, but you can never tell what the future holds and Roma are a great club."
The player has already stated he would like a return to the Premiership but it looks like Newcastle will have to offer the full asking price to secure his signature.
>> Looks like N'castle is working on Baptista. I've never been a fan of him and I really hope he'll end up in Rome. Its not often, but if Bap has the day, he is a very good and strong striker. He has over 35 caps for Brazil, experience from Sevilla, Sao Paolo, Real Madrid and Arsenal. The only big event he did last season was to determine "El Clasico" at Camp Nou.
