Schweinsteiger Admits England Appeal

Bayern Munich and Germany star Bastian Schweinsteiger has indirectly urged Chelsea to step up their interest in him by admitting that he is drawn to the prospect of moving to the English Premier League.

Speaking ahead of the 1-0 loss to Spain in the Euro 2008 final, the 23-year-old Juventus target even went as far as admitting that it has always been his dream to play in England.

Schweinsteiger, who was one of the brightest stars of the European Championships, told The People: “England does have a good appeal,”

“It is now one of the world’s best leagues and I heard all about it from Michael, Jens Lehmann and Thomas Hitzlsperger who have all played there.

“I have always wanted to play in England so we will see if it happens this year.”

Bayern, however, are eager to hold on to their youth team product,, but they are also known to act quickly when they stand to make a good profit. But the lad isn't cheap: the buy-out clause in Schweinsteiger's contract is around 20 million euros.
