But I think United could do a lot worse than look at Arshavin to replace Ronaldo, not quite the same position or style but in terms of creativity he'd be a massive asset if he could fit in.

And also Pavlyuchenko, he runs his arse off, is tall and can score with both feet. He's a bit inefficient I think at the moment, misses a few chances but I think he has the potential to be a very good all round striker.

Both would be quite cheap I'd expect, but I don't see us going for either.

Arshavin's goal last night had Ronaldo all over it. Positionally there isn't a world of difference between them imo. Now obviously, it's not a great idea to base a player soley on an international tournament, but he's been playing just as well for a whole season. Only stopping factor is his age, at 27. Doesn't make it impossible, but considering Ferguson is planning to have his successor inherit a virtually self-sufficient squad, it may be the case that he wouldn't want to leave the squad needing a key player replaced so soon, which could happen if we did sign Arshavin.

As for Pavlyuchenko, I'm a fan. He's got a good touch too, but I don't think he's clinical enough (perhaps not even good enough tbh) to be a player we'd be signing.
