David Moyes has revealed his admiration for Jaoo Moutinho - but has yet to make an approach for the Portugal midfielder.

The Everton manager is planning to go out on a Euro 2008 scouting mission earlier later this week, with the Sporting Lisbon man one of a number of potential targets in his sights.

And he hinted that he is ready to follow up his interest in the 21-year-old.

"He is a very good player," said Moyes last night. "But there is nothing in it at this moment in time."

Everton have Manchester City's Michael Johnson on their wanted list as manager David Moyes insists on keeping a strong English presence at Goodison Park while also looking for top talent at Euro 2008.

Moyes, seeking to reinforce his midfield following the recent departure of Lee Carsley for Birmingham, could tempt City with an £8m bid for Johnson, who played in the same Everton junior team as current first-teamers James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe before moving to the City academy.

Moyes, who has also run the rule over Portugal's £15m rated Joao Moutinho, also continues to monitor Tottenham's Tom Huddlestone and Chelsea's Steve Sidwell.
