Freddie ready for Roma
Monday 9 June, 2008
Roma are looking to the future, as Amantino Mancini’s departure could bring in both David Suazo and Freddie Ljungberg.
The Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup holders aim to make an even stronger push for the Scudetto in 2009 and are reinforcing their squad without breaking the bank.
It is reported today that Mancini’s inevitable move away from the Stadio Olimpico opens up the door to two new arrivals.
Inter are the favourites to sign the Brazilian and could hand over Honduras international striker Suazo in a straight swap.
Although he has spent only one season at San Siro since his move from Cagliari, Suazo is already on the way out and his pace would give Roma’s attack a new dynamic.
Speed is also a factor in the Giallorossi’s other target, as Ljungberg brings width and his trademark hard-working style to Luciano Spalletti’s 4-2-3-1 system.
The former Arsenal hero is currently plying his trade at West Ham, although considered a poor signing with just two goals in 25 appearances.
It is rumoured Roma could tempt the Swede to Serie A for just £2m and the opportunity to play in the Champions League.
