Fans' Site Protest Silva Auction

Quote:
Valencia supporters have created a website designed to try and persuade the club not to consider selling David Silva this summer in order to balance the books.

The fans are concerned that selling one of the squad's best players could be highly detrimental to los Ché's chances of playing at the top end of the table next season.

Barcelona are said to be interested in the left-sided forward and could be prepared to pay as much as €20m to secure his services and that money could be used to help new coach Unai Emery to rebuild.

Unhappy at the idea of seeing one of their favourites go, a group of Valencia supporters have spelt out all the reasons they can think of to show why Silva should be kept at all costs.

"The site has been created because of the intention of Valencia, more concretely the intention of majority shareholder Juan Soler, to negotiate and listen to offers for one of the key players in the ché squad," part of the mission statement reads.

"At only 22 years of age and with more than 100 appearances for the club under his bely, Silve is a reference for quality, performance and sacrifice that the team needs and he is also a regular in the Spanish national squad.

"He is a player of the present and the future and having given so much should be allowed to give even more to the new project at the club."

Soler was hounded into stepping down as club president earlier this season, but he still holds the majority of the club's shares allowing him to continue making major decisions.

The site is inviting signatures and messages of support from Valencia and football fans, but it is in Spanish only at: silvanosevende.tk
